A Noobish Wifi Query

Hi All,

Had a very noobish wifi query,

If i connect a usb wifi adapter to my pc, will i be able to transfer files from my pc to laptop through wifi?

My pc is in my sig and does not have a wireless router, my laptop is a hp dm1 with inbuilt wifi

yes you can , you can make a home network and connect and browse laptop to pc or pc to laptop as you wish

Since we are on the topic of usb wifi adapters,

Will i be able to get more range from this usb wifi adapters than the range i get using my netbook??

since you don't have a wireless router you will need to form an "adhoc" wifi network. as already stated above the speed will be slower than by using traditional crossover Ethernet.

the difference between usb wifi and net-book wifi adapters in range is negligible. depends more on the manufacturer and model no than on anything else.
