hey guys,
this is for my dad's rig..just need to know whether A7N8X (i think deluxe) can support a Seagate barracuda 300gb 7200.9 SATA II with NCQ, 16mb cache.. the main thing is SATA II, whether the mobo can support SATA II, i think it currently has 1 SATA I hdd attached.

please reply asap as i have to order the hdd tmrw... thnx guys

A SATA II hard-drive is backward compaitable with a SATA I port, so you have no worries there :).
 
@adi : but then, am i wasting money there goin for a SATA II hdd?? should i got for a SATA I which should be cheaper, right?
 
i just gave a call to my dealer.. they said that it wouldnt be backward compatible so i have to settle for the 300gb Seagate SATA I for 5100 excluding tax! is that a fair price?
 
Seagate SATA I 300gb - Rs 5050 + 4% tax

Seagate barracuda 7200.9 Sata II 8mb (doesnt have 16mb cache in stock) + NCQ - Rs 5250 + 4% tax

spoke to another dealers Seagate barracuda 7200.9 Sata II 16mb + NCQ - Rs 5350 + 4% tax
 
Save the 200 Rs and take your girlfriend out for a treat :P

Anyway seriously, if you are not going to be using the drive on any other SATA II compatible mobo in the future, then you may as well save some money and go for SATA I ... and even between SATA II and I there isnt much difference.
 
i finally got a Seagate barracuda 7200.9 300gb 16mb cache + NCQ for 5050 including tax...
