Laptops Acer Aspire 5500 laptop "How much should i buy for"

I am getting Used Acer aspire 5500 laptop with following configuration:
Age: 3 years old
Processor: Pentium M (Dothan)
Processor speed:1.73GHz
Motherboard chipset: Mobile Intel 915PM Express chipset
Diagonal screen size: 14.1 inch
Operating system: Win XP Home (With original 6CD Restoring Pack)
Gfx : ATI Radeon X700
Ram: 2 GB of RAM
HDD: 80 GB
Battery backup is around 2.5 hr
So, How much should be the reasonable value for this piece. Please guide me so that i can get the best possible price.

ya i think 10k is fair enough...got the same quate for my 3 year old compaq V3228au laptop with similar specs.....only my laps batt life is 4 mins.....:bleh::rofl:
 
Friends! I bought Acer Aspire 5500 for Rs.10.5k.

The seller allow me to check the whole laptop and it was fine at that time [The whole process was about 15-20 mins]. Unfortunatly, Now there is an issue and please help me in solving this problem.

Q: My Lappy produces heat a lot and tend to switch off within 15 minutes automatically. Where can be the problem and what will be the possible solution. I have used HWmonitor by CPUID and the max HDD temp was 68 degree celcius. Help me!
 
This maybe a tough job for me but is there any tutorials or guides for replacing thermal paste on CPU of Laptops. And am not sure that this will work or not.

Hey Bodmas.

I also own an Acer Aspire 5500 and it is a good laptop, but does have some over heating issues. Mine does turn off sometimes.

Make sure you allow the fan lots of room, so air can get into the laptop. The air vent for the fan is located on the right side, next to where disks are inserted. Keep it clear.

Also you will notice most of the heat comes from underneath the laptop.
You may find placing some items underneath the laptop, so it is not warming up against a wooden table, which raise it, may help cool it down as air can go beneath it.

The laptop may be switching off because you're not using power managment?

You could look at decreasing the processor speed to slow/ medium using the Green power managment icon by the time in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Having the processor on ''maximum'' speed could make it work harder, making it hotter within. Also, when possible use the mains power supply rather than the battery. The battery was only designed to be used during travels etc, so when at home unplug it! Charging the battery when the laptop is being used can over heat it.

Also, you can turn off wireless lan, bluetooth, cardbus, lan, and firewire if they are not in use. Again, right click on the power management icon to turn these off.

Just turn on what you need, when you need it.

yes laptops do tend to switch off when over heated, my compaq was showing similar issues, then i noticed my CPU utilization showed a constant 100%..(ya virus issues) finally installed a gud AV , did a complete scan-ya found hell many viruses, now the lappy doesn't shut down even while doing a 3d rendering!!!ya your issues may be different, but just wanted to share my experience...
