Laptops Acer E machine E725 anyone heard of this in India?

My "friendly neighbourhood IT guy" told me about this as I was researching a up to 26k comp for my colleague.

Here are the specs... surprisingly google search for india pages turned up next to nothing. listed on alibaba.com though .

Acer India website also doesn't have this. ???

I got a review of the machine on a firang website and some UK based websites I think.

But thats about it. My IT guy says he was told abt it by a local distributor.

Here are the basic specs and the price. If anyone has heard or is using this please let me know.

Seems good for basic computing. Just internet and MS Office. What say?

Remember you gotta add os costs.

As for eMachines as a brand, it was a maker of cheap but decent machines in usa which was bought by another company gateway which in turn was bought by acer.

Acer is only starting to launch emachines and gateway into india.

Anyway if going for emachines try to see if athlon II models are out yet in india. Ask your dealer for that.

my cousin brother got it for 25k in Calcutta

it's an amazing laptop & ran windows 7 plus a few games flawlessly

Go for the Acer 5738z/ 4736z for 27k. just 1k more than your budget. Has better specs and a established VFM lappy

Hmm... actually it is for a colleague of mine in office. She will be using it mainly for MS Office applications and perhaps the occasional movie once in a while. Lets see... I dont think she will go up to 27K which will be almost 2 an half K more.

If she can increase her budget to 27k, ask her to buy the Acer 4736z(The 5738z will be around 1k costlier i.e 28k) as it has better build quality than the eMachine and has a great keyboard(I simply adore that chicklet keyboard and I have heard that typing is a breeze on that keyboard).

If she can't increase her budget, she will have to settle for the eMachine.
