Laptops Acer EMachine help needed badly!!

I picked up an EMachine 725 today which came preinstalled with Linux Linpus. When I tried installing XP, I got the BSOD, and as advised by another member in another thread, I changed the SATA Mode in BIOS from AHCI to IDE, but after this, it just boots up to a blank screen with a white cursor and nothing else happens.

The XP version I'm trying to install is with SP2.

Can someone please, please, please help!

Hi,

Set all defaults in BIOS and try installing Windows 7 . It should work fine ..

I had bought MSI CR400X ystrday, When I was trying to instal XP , i was getting BSOD.

Then i disabled AHCI and I could installed XP

dont worry, try to boot with winxp sp3 (comes with SATA drivers),or you can create XP SP2 bootcd with your SATA chipset driver via s/ws like nlite.

725 specifications

starts at about Rs 23000/= at Hyderabad CTC with just pre-installed Linux

no special software is included except pre-installed diagnostics ...
