ACT Fibernet Hyderabad Doubles Speeds; 40mbps at 1050

Peak times? night 7?

Ive downloaded 20Gb torrent yesterday evening and it downloaded fine
Forget Torrents. Try unpopular http downloads from different locations. Peak times as in 14:00 to 19:00hrs

Airtel folks in hyderabad knew this, that's why they were advertising "Bandwidth available at all times"

Oh.[DOUBLEPOST=1470310467][/DOUBLEPOST]
I am thinking of lodging a strong protest. But I need reliable proof. Any ideas on what I can present as irrefutable source.
Best suggestion would be to mail the nodal officer directly asking for technical team rather than customer care people. Tell them you have technical doubts and it won't be solvable by customer care people directly. This worked when I went to complain them about inflated usage on my account[DOUBLEPOST=1470310505][/DOUBLEPOST]

Can you see your data usage records for previous months? I clicked on them and it says no records found

This is totally different. They're throttling during peak hours to avoid congestion i guess, Usually 95% of people use torrents to download and check, but actually that's not at all proper.
I kinda know a new ISP who has just 600Mbps International bandwidth for 200 odd customers yet he's able to provide 30+Mbps downloads speeds on Torrents, YouTube and Google play downloads (All domestic bandwidth).
To simply put this in order, You can record a video where you are able to show speed difference by using a VPN and without a VPN.

Last week i was downloading Linux image files from Europe and other locations was surprised to see 50% http speeds.

Right now I'm in a mood to change ISP, Recently spoke with a YOU sales guy since i came to know they're selling 100mbps 700 rupee plan.. 500mts from my place.. I liked his way of speaking, He said company is being resurrected and the management is no longer entertaining lazy people (possibly due to vodafone acquisition?). I should get it by October month.

@adventureguy , how do I find the contact details of a nodal officer? Thanks in advance.

@swatkats , peak hour or not, I see the speed throttled to 40-50 mbps max, I have 100 mbps connection. SpeedTest with ACT servers shows full 100 mbps of pipe but the other times it shows a completely different picture.

I live in a big gated community and Service Providers need to be approved before they can lay their cables or install any equipment. So far we have BSNL FTTH, Airtel FTTH. I checked Airtel plans but those are nowhere near to what ACT offers. :( So in any case, it is a downgrade for me.

@Lord Nemesis do you see ACT restricting your downloads to 50 mbps? It has been since last 4-5 weeks.

Nope, didn't notice anything like that. I get close to 12 MBps in steam which is what I should get for a 100 Mbps connection[DOUBLEPOST=1470322143][/DOUBLEPOST]
http downloads restricted to 10mbps sometimes on a 40mbps plan during peak hours. But when using a free vpn clearly some 2x speeds.

Many HTTP/FTP download sites have speed limits applied from the server side. Especially true for mirrors hosting Linux images, Qt SDK and other such stuff. Its more efficient to use torrents to download such stuff.

I downloaded 2 5GB files from mega and their servers were in luxembourg but still I got full 40mbps speed. Can you download and check?

And yeah, Ive seen You broadband flyers in my colony as well. Infact both hathaway and You broadband have pretty good plans compared to ACT. Do post your experience here. I might give YOU a shot.

Theres a local ISP called LS fiber who's also offering pretty good plans. 40mbps 200GB post fup 4 mbps. Ill pay him a visit tomorrow.
