Hi

Was wondering, if any additional charges are deducted if we buy web hosting and stuff from US via debit card ?

All international transactions (transactions done in foreign currency) done using an Indian debit or credit card are subject to conversion rates + an additional mark up fee usually in the range of 3.5% of the transaction amount.

conversion rates ? what do you mean by that ? and few of my friends said its 10.5% of the total transaction amount, although i am not v sure.!

so, if i buy a 300$ thing, so total charge + 3.5% right ? is their anything extra they charge other than that ?

Agantuk is correct.

If you need more details you should call customer care.

The amount charged to your card is usually inclusive of the all the charges. There will be the 12.36% service tax on the 3.5%, so effectively it comes to about 3.9-4% of the exchange rate.

To know the exchange rate which is applied for Visa cards, check this -- http://corporate.vis...er_ex_rates.jsp

I was charged the obvious $ to Rs convertion and a negligible 3.5% extra. It's not as much as 10% like is being rumoured.

try paypal's conversion rate , if there is a option to pay via paypal and you have a paypal account . paypal charges only 2.5% and no service tax , the best part , you know the amount before it is being charged
