Address fakers - what to do of such people?

What to do of such people? I got a call from a "dot com" courier cc just some time back.

cc - i'm calling from dot com courier company. do you know mahadeo more?
me - which courier co? and who?
cc - dot com couriers. do you know mr. mahadeo more? he has given your care of address and telephone no in the courier.
me - huh? you must have got a wrong number. no such "more" lives here nor do i know such a person.
cc - the number was 2xxxxxx (my home no.) and address was (proceeds to give my address).
me (in mind) - wtf going on?
me - no, i dont know any such person.

cc hangs up the call.

so what the hell was that? i thought people could steal info on net but offline too? that b...rd must have got my name and address from the society's common post box just near the entrance. i'd like to blast such persons into orbit if i catch them. :@

can i do anything if this person comes to my house asking for the courier or whatever contents he was expecting? can i file FIR on him for identity fraud or something? i actually would like to break his nose or hands and legs and send him to hospital for pulling such a stunt on me. :@:@

Seems like a retrieval organization (CC/delinquent payments) for some "Mahadeo More". They want some details about this person, and some how (god know what) your number / address is linked to him. They are trying to trace him out.

I have also received such calls about friends who 'vanished' without paying. Weird thing is that you do not know Mahadeo More..!

Thats exactly what I thought, but most of the time these types of calls are given to linked members(like you have recieved or dialled calls from/to Mahadeo)....
 
i pretty much feel the same what other people have said about this...worst thing is they get call details of any mobile without following proper channel and in some cases they harass people on phone as well...
 
yes it happens i got a call from a telecom company asking me abt the deatils of my friend who used to call me sometimes and who later didnt pay their bills and went in hidding..

they used to call me to know abt him in various ways
 
I supply ur details and get a courier sent to your address.

Call the nodal center and give them the address and politely ask if i can collect the stuff personally hrs before the delivery boy is to arrive officially.

Possible ?

Yup, very possible. And the worst part is the sender can pack all sorts of prohibited items in this package without the fear of ever being traced.

It's a dangerous world we live in folks.
