Advice - Choosing a 300ltr Fridge - Top & Bottom Door Fridge

Plan dropped when she found out from the BOSCH dealer that Bosch will be introducing newer models by Jan-Feb nxt year. The final choice was between BOSCH KGN46XL40I and LG-GL-T432FPZ3. She backed out I guess was because both models were atleast 2-3yrs old.
Nothing wrong with that. After the new models arrive you can decide better.
Though I liked that during sale Bosch came down to 42k.
Yeah, older models get discounted. If I were to guess the new models will be more energy efficient which really isn't saying much from my experience of these star ratings.
She ended up spending on jewellery to put on a smile. The way Tech works, people go after 'latest', 'best', 'cheap'.

Quite frankly I learnt a lot from here and the shops were trying to pile on models that fetches them a big commission. Liebherr, Haier, Godrej was pushed at stores. They never even bothered to explain for Samsung & LG. Most dealers never even bothered to point out Whirlpool. Strangely no pamplets were given out even when we picked out an AC from one of the stores.
Find a model that works for you without worrying about sales or you can wait for it after you decided what you want. I find it too stressful, these sales force you to look at models they want to sell, not necessarily the best for you.

Thank God she did not bother about the fridge, fingers crossed.
But my family went to the mall and looked around for new models, sales person replied all old models in Bosch no new ones. He was pushing for Liebherr again. We decided not to tell my Mother that.
Hopefully if new models do make it by the end of this year I will look at it, else look at LG for the reasons mentioned above.

@Kilroyquasar,
I have no idea about your specific requirements,
My Mother is loving the space provided in Bosch and the compartments. I am bothered about the height at which our utensils have to be kept at that height, top 2 shelves. We wont be able to look at it and identify them. Also the cover at the back hiding the wires. This is must as we have a pest of a pet who loves hideouts and sharp claws.

Riding on this thread, I wonder why Samsung is not having any bottom-freezer model for Indian market. Though LG has few models, none of them are in stock anywhere. I checked Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance Digital, Croma, Vijay Sales, 4 offline dealers of LG Brand Shoppe !

Is there any specific issue or design flaw with such models ? On contrary, bottom-freezer models are popular here in HK !

I do think bottom top market share is being eaten by side by side fridges as
People can pay 20-35% more and get a more classier product

The ones LG was selling before were imports. LG does not make bottom freezer models in India yet.

They still show up on the LG website so it's not been updated then. A friend of mine picked one up in 2019.

Samsung AFAIK has never offered any bottom freezers in India.
Okay, so basically no options for bottom-freezers from LG and Samsung !
Maybe its a question of no takers for the price asked. Maybe there are cheaper Chinese options around

Yes they do appear on LG website and I could even see 494L model on Amazon. But there seems no way to buy!

I have also looked at Bosch and Whirlpool. While I am not very convinced on after sales service of Bosch, Whirlpool just doesn’t have size beyond 355L. There are few models from Haier also I think but again not in big size !

Haier has some

choose bottom mounted from filter

Pricey even for Chinese
True, 84K for Haier is o_O

OTOH, I found this Hisense for about 64K

Guys am also in the market now to get a new refrigerator. Thinking of around 350L and a budget of 30-35k. Current experience is with Samsung and family is happy about it. Reside in Chennai so any suggestions would help.

Freezer at the top is a pretty simple design. To keep the costs down, you can manage with a single evaporator.

It's slightly complicated to move cold air to upper sections in a bottom mounted, single evaporator fridge. Dual evaporators with odor containment increase the cost - and therefore less buyers in India. Moreover, India needs tropical-climate-class (T) refrigerators, which drives the cost of multiple-evaporators further up.

People who bring back their refrigerators from colder countries often find them struggling to work in peak Indian summers.

Shortlist?

Went out yesterday and looked at a few places
Visited LG and Bosch showroom then Viveks and Poorvika appliances. While i didn't note down any specific models i felt that Bosch was the best fit with large vegetable tray and bigger fridge portion.

Whirlpool was actually best but it wasn't on inverter.

Have shortlisted this now. Seems to be available only in Flipkart.

Another option that we saw was one in LG. However first preference is the Haier bottom freezer one due to the convenience and features it offers.

What will the spare parts availability and service be like for Haier in the future? The Koreans have service networks in place that go back decades.

If you're looking at this size then consider one that gives you figures for temperature settings in the fridge and freezer instead of some dial with numbers on it. The repair guys will always prefer the latter but from a user confidence pov i think the first is so much better

I'm not too worried about the service with the likes of Urban Company being around.

I'm not preferring too much chip based stuff because these only tend to die sooner.

I have a budget of max 35k.

This reminds me of another similar dilemma

Is it better to buy a cheap champagne or a good red wine?

Service can be had but what about parts? if that availability isn't assured beyond a point then you will be forced to replace it.

Can you find out from Haier how long they make spare parts available for that fridge? What is their policy
