Actually guys, here in chennai , i heard that gigabyte is notorious for its service . They make u go from pillar to post. So gigabyte service is not at all good. My hardware engineer had undergone many hardships because of gigabyte and he adviced me not to go for their products. It may be good product wise, but service is also important, right ? . Thats y m reluctant to go for gigabyte products...

Anyway i will think and decide.... Ok guys what about Intel G31 ? . Is it better than gigabyte ?. Sometime back i built a pc for my cousin with Dual Core and Intel DG31PR. Though the mobo is not that feature rich it is good.

Actually once upon a time even i was a fan of Intel :) . But after reading reviews in forums like techenclave, techtree, which gave suggestions to go for AMD , for the 1st time i built a AMD based PC (X2 3800+) 2 yrs back and till now i am very satisfied.

And that too if I want the features of AMD mobo in INTEL i have to spend a lot. All these things made me an AMD fan.

I cant believe even now, how i became an AMD fan.... :bleh:

Same here friend. I also think that E5200 and 7750BE are more or less equal in performance at stock speeds, though 7750BE has a slight edge. The community here at TE is very interested in gaming and overclocking and hence E5200 + Gigabyte G31 is best vfm combo when combined with a GFX card. But if you are looking for a feature rich motherboard, on Intel platform you have to spend much more. Like in my case I want the MB to have 4 analog sound outputs to connect my creative 7.1 speakers, HDMI port onboard and a decent onboard gfx solution. I think that 780G or 790G's onboard gfx is better than intel's g31 though both are no match for dedicated gfx card. An esata port is also a plus. Gigabyte's 780G mb with 128mb sideport ddr3 memory has all the features and costs about 5K. I searched a lot for a similar feature rich MB for Intel platform in similar price range but was unable to find one. Hence if features are important then AMD is better vfm.
I welcome to be corrected.

First time im hearing about gigabyte service being bad.
Anyway you just have to give your board to your dealer if there's a problem, rest is his headache. Just go to a good store and pick up the board yourself, then give it to your assembler to assemble if you can't do it yourself.
Gigabyte G31 boards are the best VFM as of now.

Oh and i don't care about Intel or AMD, i care about max performance for the money. If you had a budget of say 30k, i would say go AMD way, but as i've mentioned time and time again, Intel rules the bottom and top end of the market as of now.

Tell me what are these features that you guys keep talking about?
If you buy an expensive board with a decent IGP or buy a cheaper board with a standalone card, at the end of the day you get all the benefits and none of the drawbacks.

The reason you guys feel so right now is due to your limited knowledge about safely OCing your components and about how much of a performance gain there is to be had at no extra cost to you. Don't worry, i was the same, until i learned and saw with my own eyes the difference it makes.

Dude, u asked me to give the mobo in case of any issue to the dealer

But which dealer welcomes the board for warranty these days. In their bill itself it is mentioned as " WARRANTY MUST BE CLAIMED FROM MANUFACTURERS ONLY". So we consumers have to rush to the service centres. Thank God, Memory modules are an exception for this . Even if the dealers take the board to RMA it, they take a lot of time in sending the board . For bulk delivery, they keep our board aside and wait for about 10 - 20 boards. So it takes about even a month sometimes, to get back the board. ...

Hope u understood the problem. Unless the service centres are good, we have to face a difficult situation.....

I guess they do it differently there then.
IMO and experience, a good store welcomes RMA with a smile, and takes care of the hassle for you. Either way no sense buying an inferior product just to avoid hassle, If it's in warranty, you WILL get replacement, in your case, just head straight to the service centre if your dealer is incompetent/unwilling. Im willing to bet that you won't have problems.
Aside from that, your choice. :)
