PC Peripherals Advice on new speakers for 2.5 to 3k

I am planning to buy good speakers for my sys... and the budget is 2.5 to 3k... need your advice...

i know that most of u wud recommend ATP3. Is there any other speakers that are as good and in that price range...

i wud use the speakers for watching movies, mp3 n games... surrond sound is not a necessity...

how good is creative Inspire 4.1 when compared to ATP3? Heard that ATP3's are going to be phased out and VS4121 would replace it... Is ATP3's available easily in chennai? what is the cost VS4121? any advice is welcome....

My mobo has Realtek LC650 6-channel audio, is it necessary to buy an external sound card? how does Realtek LC650 6-channel audio fare?
 
The onboard sound would be good enough for surround speakers under 3K. But for something like ATP3, it would be better to go for a sound card, at least a SB-Live 24bit.
 
If ur in Chennai, go to Supreme and get the Sony SRS-D2100 2.1 Spkrs. that I've. They sound far better than the ATP3 ( Atleast for me it does ) - Gr8 bass for a 100W RMS Spkrs. Costs 3.1 ~ 3.2K.
 
Didnt knew abt this Sony at all.
@ 3.1-3.2k this is a gr8 speaker.

100W RMS is what is written on the box of my spkrs. Really worth every penny. That sub-woofer is a real monster. But had to pay 4.5K when I bought it ( It was introduced just then )and it has come down to 3.1K in a span of 5 months. Seems it is also available in Mumbai as posted by Rocky in another thread.
 
so which is better ATP3 or Sony D2100?

anybody who has heard both... give a few inputs...

Freaky do u know any sites that have reviewed it?
 
Not sure abt the sites that have reviewed it and am not good enuf to write a review. But I've heard both the Sony and Saiyan's ATP3 and the Sony definitely sounds better. It also has greater output - 100W RMS compared to the 30 or so of the ATP3 ( ATP3 lovers, don't fry me if am mistaken abt. the output figure ).
 
Freaky, i think that the speaker output doesnt show which speaker is better right? For me the effect matters more than the speaker output... which has better effect.. i mean the thump effect n all...
 
Thump Effect - U will love the Sony. That's exactly what my bro loves abt. the Sony. The Sub-Woofer gives out real good thump when needed. Everything abt. the Sony is better when compared to the ATP3. Period. No offence meant for ATP3 fans. But the Sony is way better value for money than the ATP3.
 
apollyon, how good is logitech x-230? is it better than ATP3...

Freaky does Sony SRS-D2100 distort at high volumes?

I really thought that most of u would recomend ATP3... it looks like there are other good speakers for 3k in india...

is there any sites that review speakers??
 
@ Vivek, I haven't xperienced any distortion so far - Been 6 months. And I let it have a blast always with Heavy Metal and Rock or War Movies and Games.

@ Ragin, am in the office now. So can't see the link now. Will let u know when I get back home. But it's exactly the same as Rocky has posted in his recent thread but for the number of sattelites. It's the same as given in Quad's second link above.
 
Just now checked the review abt Philips MMS 430 in techtree... the review tells that its not that good... but then when i see the user comments, almost everyone favour this more than the ATP3... Also read that ATP3 maximum volume is less tha Creative Inspire 2.1... will the volume difference be that visible?

searched the net and got some good views abt logitech x-230... right now i am in full confusion... help me guys... is there anywhere in chennai where i can get demo of atleast ATP3 and Logitech X-230?
 
ya vivek sure you can always come to my house and test my speaker, try to come in morning coz thats the only time i can use my speakers at high volume coz my parents won't be there at morning :ohyeah:
 
So which is the final verdict, ATP3 or Sony SRS-D2100 ?
I too have the same decision to make... a 2.1 speaker at around Rs3000 to be used for music mainly...

As far as the reviews in the net... all the sites n users that review Atp3 tell that its gr8.... Sony SRS-D2100 hasnt got good review comments... Most sites n people who reviewed Logitech X-230 tell that it is good...

i checked up freaky's SRS-D2100... they are gr8... but reviews on the net tell that music doesnt sound that crisp n clear...

Sony SRS-D2100 is the most powerfull of the 3 while ATP3 is the least powerfull
