PC Peripherals Advice regarding UPS

Well guys, luckily enough i got to convince APC to give me a replacement and i got it yesterday. And even the 500VA is working finr. The service guy said the battery is gone. Anyway, that's fixed.

However, i got a Microtek 1KVA yesterday as well. I am not aware of the wattage thing in UPS. APC says the 500VA can support 300W continous which seems to be less than my sys power consumption so i got this. I think i'll use the APC for other stuff and Microtek for ma PC. I thought of going for the APC 650VA but then it can also support 390W max. I think i have made the correct decision.

What i don't understand is how come the 500VA also works with my PC when it should be like overloaded or something. Ain't it? Why is the wattage thing then?
 
U got it right, microtek 1Kva gives output of 600W, that should satisfy ur rig. :) This is the thing that decide the price. If this 1Kva microtek UPS would have better ouput then I am sure the price would have been much more. Thats where everybody looks for Pure sine output UPS. They have good output,so their price is also higher. At this I would only like to say that UPS are mean to give sufficeint backup in case power cut off, for me to properly shut down, thats it nothing more no less. If a Ups gives me that much time without hampering any of my parts then thats what we should be looking for.

For ur 500va UPS is giving u back up probably because ur rig is not at full load and doesnot require that much power at that moment. Now at least u know that if ur rig runs at full load then this 500va UPs will not be able to give the backup time. It will either run in overload mode or damage it self. :no:
If I am going to lightup my house in power cutoff then why don't anyone buy inverter.
 
The problem is my system runs properly even on the 300W UPS as it does on the 600W UPS. I regret buying a 600W UPS when i dnt get a single idea why are higher watt UPS made when the system can run on a mere 300W UPS.

My system load should be ~375W as per the calculator and on full load goes to 475W. My proc alone consumes ~160W of power on overclocked settings.

I have posted this same question about wattage of a UPS in other places but i am not getting a proper answer. :huh:

Consider the later at full load if ur system require 375W then obviously when not in full load it consumes less power which is satisfied by ur 300W UPS. If ur PC consumes more power then the UPS can supply then surely you will get some nasty smell of smoke there. :Comp3: :rofl:

Enjoy ur rig with 600W ups that satisfy u.:hap2:
 
Buddy, if ma PC consumes anything > 300W, the APC UPS should not work. Right?

And when my PC is running Crysis or 3D Mark Vantage, I think it would be running at full load or anything above 300W if i have to believe the Extreme Power Calculator. And at these times also, the APC UPS handles the system just fine. Dats the concern.

My simple question is why is the load mentioned on the UPS important if the UPS can handle the ratings higher than the rated value. What's the need to go for a 1KVA UPS if 500VA works just fine. Dats what i am confused. :huh:

Else, the extreme power calculator is all wrong. :no:
