There is quite a lot of aerial wiring in bangalore but thanks to BESCOM( Bangalore Electricity Board) folks who come once in a while and cut down all the wires.

They were in my locality 2 days back i was so happy to see them cutting the wires which were hung hapazardly. The best thing they do is cut the cables between poles and not cut some where inbetween.

No internet or electric cables from churchgate to andheri atleast. Yes but you will find a lot of messy local cable tv network wires hanging from every building to any shops.

Here is Surat, Gujarat, the situation is bad because of cable and internet providers.

We have torrent power as electricity supplier who have complete network underground.

AFAIK there is regulation regarding the cables passing aerially or underground.

Whole of this problem can be solved by local corporations bodies creating ducts while making roads so that providers can pass cables through it and local body gets usage charge.

Another option is if central government makes long awaited regulations of "Opening up of last mile loop" the all providers can use the existing BSNL underground cable and provide services and every one is happy.

But till greasing of palms is rampant i dont see quick resolution

Totally. I think Youtele, Hathway and Reliance cables are already atop my terrace. I am the sole user in my locality using Reliance!

Well talking about surat, Areas like Citylight, parle point, ghod dod look quite cable free. But yes, other old city areas and udhna and all are still full of them.

And Hyderabad, wallaa. Posting pic tonight of poles near by by apt and area if got more time.

It's happening finally. But Downtimes will be a headache now For hyderabad Internet users
The dangling cables and wires strung up from every electricity pole, lamp post and even heritage monuments would be a thing of the past as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has cracked the whip on cable and internet service providers to remove the wires.

The idea of moving cables underground may look sound on paper but is fraught with challenges for the civic body. “For moving all the electricity transmission lines as well as 2800 km of internet and TV cables underground will require digging up the whole of Hyderabad. Or the city can create dedicated underground channels where cables can be added or removed as per need,” said a GHMC official.
