Searching for a gaming laptop, i recently came across this one.

Not really an expert in this matter, I bring this to you guys. Anyone who knows more please enlighten if this is a good laptop.

A friend of mine ordered the Dell XPS 17-3D for $1650.

i wonder whats the use of so much of vram with gpu's like gtx 555m,and this is laptops we are talking about.i think the tactics manufacturers used to use on pc's like more vram to increase their sales has worn out and their new victim is laptops.for eg. 2 years ago i knew nothing about gpu's and i came across this one guy who thought he knew everything.he gave me some games,my pc was weak,obviously did not run on it.so i asked him what was the matter?he told me that i needed a graphic card and told me about one seller.he told me that i just needed to buy a gpu with 512 mb ram or 256 and the model number didn't matter!.The seller was a @!@#***!@*.you ask why?because he gave me a 7200 gs for rs.3000! and the performance was just great!i was playing crysis at ultra settings at HD with 60 fps!YAY!#$#$@,then i did a little reasearch myself and found out everything but i couldn't give it back because it was too late..
 
The point of the laptop is the new 1.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560M which will outperform the 3GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 555M and that it is cheap at around $1150.

For the price u mentioned i think the new Asus G74SX or the MSI GT683R would have been a better purchase for you friend. Or could have waited a bit and got the MSI GT780DX-215US. Unless he really wanted 3-D. Still u get better laptops (when you move to the high end range) than DELL for the same price.
