PC Peripherals After 7800 GTX, what?

No use of a 7950 GX2. A single 7950 GX2 does not offer that much performance gain over an X1900 XT/XTX ..... Also, ATI cards offer HDR + AA performance....

Beyond this no one can convince you...... in the end up to you...read reviews and articles and make up your mind yourself.

7900GT sli would be nice, but keep in mind the number of 7900's going bust. A x1900xt would be a good choice as well. 7950's are probably going for insane prices right now, and quad sli is a over-kill imho.

me thinking 2 go for a 7950 right now and getting a CM Stacker (the plain vanilla one, not 830). So in case I want to go quad later on, I can just pop in another 7950 and PSU. Btw, know any other case that'll support 2 PSUs? It should be very spacious and of a solid build. Also,I'm getting an offer of a 7950@38K all taxes paid.Is that good?

Quad SLI is useless except for bragging rights..... I dont know how much more I can tell.... it is your money.... you want to waste it, go ahead.

I remember you asking the same question when you were buying your current rig. IIRC, you had bought 2 x 6800 cards and we suggested you sell them and go for a single 7800 GTx....

Honestly, SLI/Quad SLI/Crossfire are useless if you think that you will buy one card now and another later..... by the time you get the second card, you will be thinkinhg of upgrading your foirst card.

Just buy an X1900 XT and enjoy..... There is 0 need for Quad SLI right now unless you game on a HD TV/plasma screen or something like that.....

You will be gaming at what....max 1600 x 1200 (though I doubt it looking at your monitor..).....

1900xt man.,.... 7950GX2 is great and all but still the PSU question arises then...Get the 1900xt for now...and like u wanna do ...run it for a year..will serve u more than well lol .... then sell the XT to some fella for 30k again  and get urself a dx10 card :P

edit (changed an year to A year  english grammar lesson :P )

@Nikhil, Well, I followed your earlier advice and got the 7800 GTX, did'nt I? And when I got this extra bonus, I was planning on getting another 7800 but only thing I'm going for a new setup is that I'm getting a really sweet deal on my card. It's not like I want to keep upgrading or whatever. As for the XT, it's better only in games like Everquest and such which I don't play much (I'm risking a lot saying this :P ). And also what gives you the idea that I might not upgrade my LCD if/when I go for quad? Mind you, this LCD is something I had to buy cos of budgetary considerations and the fact that I'd need lots of juice to play my fav games on LCDs supporting higher res. If I get that kind of juice under my hood, I'd go for a bigger LCD anyday. Also the fact that keeping Quad as an option is going to do me no harm if not any good. And, cmon, don't tell me we buy these machines just for the performance ? What's the point in having a thing of beauty and raw power if not to show just a little bit :cool2: ?

@Shrey, thinking of the Stacker as a solution to the PSU prob. Just check out my rig. Need a new cab as it is.

he can game at max 1280x1024 as he has a BenQ FP71E+ 17" LCD so even a 7800GTX is enough for him thus SLI, QUAD SLI & CROSSFIRE will be overkill for him.

IMHO X1900XT is more than enough for him.

X1900XT is the best till a resolution of 1600x1200 & SLI, QUAD SLI & CROSSFIRE are for 1920x1440, 2048x1536 & above

@Udit, what's with the "is enough for him" part. I'm not asking what's enough here. I'm asking what's the best card around as I'm spending free ka paisa (it's a gift from the gods :) ). And no ways the 7800 GTX is enough for playing at 1280x1024. I know. I'm playing on it.

^^oooh... abbey... sell your card... get a 7300gt....... and wait until the new breed of dx10 cards devour the market.... and then you can easily go for the high end dx10 cards.. is it soo hard to wait esp when the money is a gift from the gods.. spend it wisely :bleh:

Feel like saving the guy whose buying yesterdays old card for higher than todays new card price....I hope he is rich else Iam sad for all that money of his going dwn the drain....

Ones ignorance is anothers bliss...

lol...I hope the other guy sees this forum:rofl:

Nah, don't worry. He's super duper rich :hap2: .
@all Xt guys, where can I get the XT? My sources don't have it. I might just accept your advice but consider one thing. i'm not going to be among the first few to upgrade my system when DX10/ Vista hits the market. possibly I'll be going for a complete new system in about a couple of years when Vista is matured.
P.S. He's buying my card cos of Digit. The mag still has the 7800 GTX as the best performing card in its A-List section. I looooove Digit :ohyeah: !

heh digit eh...tell him to never come to TE  u can ask someone to send ur XT for u .. i mean senior TE members.. from mumbai coz i doubt u will get ur XT in arunachal pradesh :S ....or u can go to calcutta and get urself one...calcutta must have XTs right ????

don't expect calcutta to have it as here dealers hold there hearts even by hearing someone is finding a X850XT PE :P

only the following dealer can have a MSI or GeCube X1900XT

Code:
Tirupati Enterprises
Contact Person: Mr. Ranjit Singh
Address: 11, Robert Street, 1st Floor, Kolkata - 700012
Mobile #: 09339207519
E-Mail: [email]kolkata@tirupati.net[/email]

Thanx. I'll look up Tirupati on Monday and check up on prices and availibility. Btw, I got my Corsairs from them.

My advice if you dont plan to upgrade for at least a year and also since the prices for ATI video cards are too high here is to go for a single 7900 GT. Sell the 7800 GT for 30k and get a 7900 GT for 17k. Its faster and can be overclocked a fair bit too. IF you can find a X1900 XT for around 25k or lower then go for it, otherwise its not worth it. SLI'd 7900 GT's also could be an option but @ 1280X1024 its major overkill. Final verdict, either single 7900 GT or X1900 XT.

what i suggest is sell that 7800gtx at that price now ... i too have one for sale so if u can get that sold too for like 25k then lemme knw ...

anyways dont waste money on quad sli ...no ways ... its a real foolish thing to do. get a x1900xt if u can or else jst get a 7900gt for now and save the cash.... also find the prices of the x1800xt 512mb which is also a sexy card.

i dont suggest going with nvidia cards at the moment ...ati is the king at present.

SLI/CF are the most foolish things to do at present. they need to become much more mature.
