Aircel International roaming. Only receiving texts. No calls.

Hi,

So i got my Lenovo A820 dual sim phone yesterday. Put my Aircel sim in slot 1 for WCDMA & GSM and Airtel in slot 2.

Airtel is working fine, Incoming calls and texts. Can make calls also.

Aircel, only receiving texts. No calls, cant make calls from it also. Have balance of over 100 INR.
When I call to the number from my US number, it says this aircel number is temporarily unavailable.

Any ideas?
 
I'm just guessing.. because 99 INR / month is a roaming charges + call charges around 90-250 / month depends on the countries... May be try with a balance of 500+ and update me :) I'm very much interested in this as i'm using aircel as my main number :( In germany there was no roaming at all and CC said, there is no roaming for prepaid in germany:(. i've received the SMS in qatar(airport), but never thought of trying calls...
 
What??? There is a roaming charge?

Airtel roaming is free. Are you sure Aircel has no free roaming? And no money deducted from me. This is prepaid.[DOUBLEPOST=1386297746][/DOUBLEPOST]And I am talking about incoming only. I dont want to make calls

I think airtel also has same roaming charges... it will be deducted only when you make the first outgoing call or incoming call or outgoing SMS.
 
I didnt activate anything on airtel. both my airtel SIM's are roaming fine. Aircel, I cannot dial numbers from it, dial this number from other phones. Only receive texts. Dunno if i can send text. :). Not going to try.
 
Airtel's Roaming service allows you to use your mobile phone to make or receive calls from almost anywhere in World. A monthly rental of Rs 99 will be charged on International Roaming in addition to the international roaming rates. Rental will be charged only in case of an incoming/outgoing call or outgoing SMS.

I don't pick the calls, just cut it and call from my US number.
 
Okay. So for Aircel, BEFORE leaving India I need to recharge a 99 rs plan. Then only incoming.

So thats settled.

I have one question to Aircel users. Right now I am in some talk plan. No idea what it is though. It is expiring in 3 days. What happens after that? Will i be in some default plan? The phone will be still active r8?
 
Please somebody tell me how to activate the international roaming in AIRCEL ... Network is not showing ... before leaving India... I asked about this in the customer care.... but poor service. Then I seeked help from AIRCEL showroom... They asked me to reinsert the SIM ... still no use.. That's my favourite number and I don't want to lose it... I'm pathetic. Please gimme some idea....

You have to get Intl. roaming activated.

Is this a prepaid or postpaid connection?
If Postpaid, you can have the no. put on safe custody (in case you dont intend to use it while abroad), the no. will be disabled, and Aircel won't give this no. away to new customer. It'll be yours. Once you come back, you can get it activated again.
