Airtel Broadband And Counter Strike Help

Hey guys , our net is shared by six people .. we have 2mbps airtel broadband

when i play alone i get 50-60 latency which is normal
if anyone browses the net it goes high by like 70-90 ms

but if someone starts a download or something
the latency goes high like 200-300 ms .

earlier i had 1mbps airtel connection and in that even
if downloads were in full speed , the latency could not even increase by 1 ms ..

but thats not the case in current 2mbps connection .
why is this so ??

anyway to resolve the problem by myself ? either QoSing the 27000 port used by counter strike ,

or should i contact airtel ?? and will they help regarding this ??

one more thing i would like to mention:-

1. my earlier 1mbps airtel had the normal modem (not the wifi one)
2. the new 2mbps modem is wifi as well as lan support

me tried using lan for the 2mbps connection but no use..
 
It often does. There are evn some gaming cafes where if someone is streaming then the others face lag.
 
Maybe u were software limited to 1Mbps which means u had higher bw than ur 1Mbps conn....... later when on 2Mbps u were using full available bw and so the high ping.....
 
the problem is still not solved and i left playing counter strike only :P , but i was getting bored and thought lets play for sometime again but how to solve this problem ??
