Er.... Stick, i dont know where you're from. But as you can see from the top right corner of my post above my age, it shows "Location:Chennai, India" if i'm not mistaken.
And nothing was mentioned in the paper about other cities.
i don't know, but on Beetel 220BX modem i had to OPEN PORTS for E-mule to connect properly.
The 220BX is a Lan cum USB modem.
Now port forwarding isn't required on USB modems (They steal their power from the PC and connect via a USB cable if my memory serves me right) and need a driver software to get configured. Also they connect via dial-up style.
But a LAN modem takes its power source indipendently from another joint and connects to a PC on a Lan card - This method requires Port Forwarding. and needs to dialing to get connected.
In bridged mode there is no need of port forwarding and you connect in dial-up fashion using a software PPP dialler.
In PPPoE mode, your 'modem' (which is more like a half-assed router now) itself acts as the dialler and requires all sorts of port forwarding headache.
It's more secure though.
Connecting via ethernet or usb has nothing to do with it. I myself connect using usb and still have to forward ports if I use PPPoE mode.
