Airtel launches unlimited 3G data plan

Good initiative from Airtel to prevent the loss. But they should start with 1GB for 100/- if they really want people to jump to 3G. For a normal smartphone user, 2GB is minimum for monthly use. And I don't think any of us would like to spend more for data than voice/text on mobile.

Anyone got instructions to deactivate 2GB Rs 98 EDGE/GPRS plan (prepaid) and sign up for the 1 GB or 2 GB 3G plan on prepaid?

Their website has no information about the updated plans, and if you activate any 3G plan EDGE is automaticlaly deactivated.

I had tried activating 3G earlier and it responded with "cannot be activated because you have more than 50mb remaining on your current plan" or something like that :) I guess I will wait til the end of the month.

I am on post paid, pre paid conditions might be different. Btw even I need the code to activate the new plan, as the automated system on customer care still offers the old plans for 3g

Ps: and that too riding on Vodafone signal :)

I am using the Vodafone prepaid Rs. 502 3G plan where you get 500 sms(local +national), 500 mobile mins (local +std) and 500 MB 3G data. The only drawback is that you need balance in the main account to call landline numbers.

I was using this plan for the last 4-5 months but now its removed from their site btw am from Chennai..the below are the current prepaid plans.. do check the below link for prepaid and postpaid in various circles.

in kolkata people are selling prepaid sim for data without documents
like reliance 3gb @ 3g @ 120 inr
validity one month
after 1month throw and buy another
:)
HOW ???
Ps checked one gives good 3g speeds

I had called Airtel about the RS 100 scheme for 3G. They said we get 100 MB data. Then they charge.

Airtel's got an unlimited 3g plan for Rs. 1000 /-

Since you aren't on a plan, logically they can't reduce your speed, or can they? They haven't mentioned any FUP on the page,

How is that unlimited..?
Your bill is capped at Rs.1000, no matter how much data you consume.
It doesn't say that there's a limit, or that your speeds will be cut, it just says that it'll charge you 3p/10kb with a max charge of Rs.1000.
So, in theory even if you download 250GB, you should get 3G speeds and your bill for data use is capped at Rs.1000.
