Just an idea:

Airtel charges on a daily basis. And one can change plan by just calling them up. Hence here's the trick:

Day1: Request Upgrade to Airtel 4Mbps

Day2/3: Plan upgraded

Day 3 to Day X: You get charged on a daily basis (Rs. 60/day) while you download at 4Mbps

Day X= The day you cross 50GB Fup and your speed shows 256kbps. Now you request plan change to 512kbps.

Day X+2 to Day 30: You get charged on daily basis (for 512kbps) while you download at 512kbps. Your Fup gets replenished to 100GB of which you have used 50GB.

:ashamed:

I think the double bandwidth should apply for 1299 plan [512 in day, 1mbps in night]

Me and 2 other friends are using 1299 plan but its still 512kbps day and 1mpbs night.

lets see but I am 99% sure it wont be on these plan and sato is correct its best to switch to swift but depends on what is fup

I was at my uncle's place in panchkula and one of these airtel guys visited, he was offering a 1mbps UL plan for 599! When asked about FUP, he had no clue of it, he didn't knew what FUP was! But still, it seems a superb plan. Im on 1299 plan and get 512 day and 1mbps Night UL and a better plan is being offered for less than half the price!

AFAIK this is implemented in phases. I am also on the same plan and I haven't seen any changes.

Some people have confirmed they have been upgraded to double speeds at no exxtra cost. So Airtel are delivering on their promise!

Yea even i want to know if its applicable to differential speed plans. Im on Turbo 1299 as well and if speeds are not doubled then it might be worth it to shift to Swift 1099 and pay less to get 1 mpbs U/L

One big advantage of the Turbo 1299 plan is FUP is not applicable for night downloads wheres the Swift 1099 plan still probably has the 100 GB FUP

Well you are correct there is no fup on night download under 1299 plan. And i dont know anyone who got update speed under plan of 1299

yea I think the delite offer was terminated last week, atleast thats what the airtel CC told me.

Sato- I think you can switch plans like that, Airtel will surely have some condition that you cant switch plans more than once in a month or billing cycle, I presume..

Got my plan changed to this one , I am not a heavy downloader .. gonna stick to it until they double speed of the 1299 / 1099 plan and then revert back .

i could use some advice people.

i'm currently on 2mbps with 100 gig FUP at 2500 + tax

i've never had my speeds reduced at any point which means i'm not hitting the FUP. is there anyway I can check my monthly usage? if i don't even touch 50 gigs, I could probably switch to this plan and enjoy higher speeds.

my typical usage scenario is like this: 3 people in the family extensively use the internet. mom is on skype all the time, bro downloads quite a few 700 mb movies and i watch a lot of TV shows but as youtube quality streams.

occasionally, the big download comes along. last week i downloaded the whole world of warcraft game at 15 gigs but i don't do stuff like that regularly.

think 50 would be enough?

Log on to Mobile Prepaid, Broadband, Postpaid Mobile, DTH Services in India: Airtel , you can check your unbilled usage from the first day of the billing cycle .. If you don't have id/pass call 121 and ask for it .

Even I have requested a plan change to 4mbps plans with 50gig limit .. should be done either today or tom .. will post results then .

@ashr i think you can easily/safely go for the awesome 4mbps/50gb FUP plan @ rs 1799 per month .... save monthly bills, get higher speeds and still rarely hit the FUP (i bet) in your usage it looks like! :D

i wish i had airtel as an option - i would take it in a flash...

If the usage is on a single PC then it would be fine but if in such senarios there are multiple PC/laptops then I'm pretty sure the limit is reached pretty fast.

i actually run 3 pcs (desktop and 2 laptops) on 50 gb FUP doing a lot of free software updates and still manage to download a few nice "video clips" :D

im on 2mbps plan for two months now (2999/month)

i was told theres FUP at 100GB but i never saw my speed drop any less than 2mbps and i download more than 500GB/month.

Should i stick with the current plan or should i gamble getting this 4mbps plan and try my luck ?
