What exactly are students supposed to do on a device that runs on a 366 MHz processor and comes with a resistive display? The whole experience would be way too pathetic to be even remotely usable and I would love to be proven wrong. If this was for the rural masses (who don't have laptops/PCs) to access internet, then I agree it is fairly decent in the sense that something is better than nothing.

Main goals

Less power consumption, wireless connectivity, open source os, availability.. And low cost.

Resistive screen is more rugged.. Can support stylus.. So it was wisely designed..

If we get a suitable custom rom then we can root it and convert to a download rig but dont expect a very high performance out of it

^ it supposedly has an HD graphics accelerator on it.

NDTV also somehow ran a 1080P youtube video on it and it played it smoothly. So yes, this is capable of more than p0rn :P

It says :

Connect via GPRS or WiFi

GPRS: Embedded modem eliminates the need for external dongles and allows Internet access everywhere

Even plug-in a 3G dongle

but OP says otherwise. ??

the student batch has some flaws like gprs modem is disabled. but it can change i suppose when it comes out.

the commercial version will have the inbuilt gprs modem enabled by default. usb ports are push pull, so you can use internet dongles.

So, student version, which costs 1.5k right ?

but 3K version will be having dongle & sim support ? OMG, this is just great ! :O

i'll certainly be buying this tablet as long as i can read ebooks, manga, pdf on it with casual browsing and simple typing work..
