I have mixed feelings about this title. Having completed the game, I didn't really feel any sense of satisfaction. It was merely a bland experience. The gameplay itself was the same as the previous game, with minor addition of weapon variety. Storyline, well, it's not really intriguing but more of a quick episode of Alan trying to hunt down his evil doppelganger Mr.Scratch. It was annoying how they tried to increase the gameplay time by time-looping the 3 sequences; The Diner, The Observatory & the Drive-In. I have to applaud the graphical achievement for an XBLA title being so sharp. However, the consequence of looking so good, takes a ginormous toll on the frame rates. For the first time, you'll have the option of adjusting V-Sync in a console game. Yes, this game allows you to toggle between 'Smart' and 'Always ON' V-sync option. The former will use V-sync only when required, leading to high tearing during faster animations, while the latter is self explanatory. I found the game to be highly unstable with V-Sync Always on. Clearly, the game shouldn't have been an XBLA title. It could have passed as a DLC for the main game.
Anyway, that being said, there is not much to speak about this game. Although, I have to mention that watching Ilkka Villi as Mr.Scratch (and Alan Wake), I'm impressed. He should definitely build up his acting career.
