I just want to clear some doubts about so much negativity on Tata/Fiat :-

Cars which have 1.3 MJD engine which is Manufactured by Tata/Fiat at Pune plant and given to Suzuki and used in their own cars.

Some of those cars :-

Tata Indica

Tata Indigo Manza

Fiat Punto

Fiat Linea

Maruti Swift

Maruti ritz

Maruti sx4

Maruti Dzire

Opel Astra

Suzuki Wagon R+

hence , kindly stop bashing Tata's / Fiat.

Lolz...I am talking about the service part not the national engine. I own a Punto.

FYI, Diesel i20 comes in 5 gears now since last 2 months or so.

maybe now they have changed it....my friend got his car delivery 3 months back and its with 6 gear

About the i20 gearbox, yes, the current i20 now comes with 5 gears only

Apparently the 6 speed was the same one being used in the Verna, and there are 2 stories doing the rounds:
1. They removed it to have more in stock for the verna (which is selling well and in demand)
2. Creates more differentiation between the 2 cars.

Watever the reason, the 5 gear manual is confirmed in all new i20s
