Nokia 5800 U.S. launch is a fiasco, can we expect better in the future here? | Nokia Experts

if you analyse the info. there is / was a problem with the AT&T network. not with the phones.

Edit: Now i just hope that nobody makes a thread with "Millions of flawed Nokia 5800XM" etc...in the title here.

"official statement (well, a translation from Russian) from Nokia, by Vitoria Eremena, head of Nokia PR for Eurasia, to Mobile-Review:" and yes dude the problem is not there now..it was only for sets manufactured before late feb ....so...again dude it was just an advisory...kinda post...

but my phone and lakhs of other phones are working fine so far at least. How do you explain that ??

Just to clear it for you - It does not mean that your handset does not have the defect. It could come any time in future! Do you really think Nokia is stupid enough to accept that all their handsets are defective, if it aint true ?

Can you give gurantee that any electronic device will NOT fail in future.?
Can you give 1 example of a new technology device (phones preferably) which does not need updates or refinements.? dont we have bios updates and frequent software service packs for the pc?
and where has nokia stated that all their handsets are defective?
Uptil now the reported problematic ear piece problem is quite small in percentage terms of the overall number of pieces sold. most probably the number of complaints regarding ear piece problem will peak around april - june since ambient humidity levels play a important part in screwing up the ear piece coils.
More than a million of these are sold i dont see nokia recalling all the millions phones.?
ps: I have a 3G iPhone too and i am not a fanboi of Nokia, neither i am defending Nokia or my purchase of it but one should not sensationalise any issue without understanding the facts behind it. our news channels / media are enough for it.:D
Problem with the a certain batches of ear piece is there and nokia has readily agreed to it and is taking prompt and immediate steps to rectify it free of cost. so whats the big deal ?
I see a very few actual and genuine buyers, here on this site, complaining about this.

Well, its a good sign Nokia at least admitted it so fast and remedying it unlike companies like Microsoft and Apple who do not easily accept a defect in a product even when its pointed out. Microsoft have had the RROD and it took them years before they finally accepted. Apple had its share with iPhone's touch screen banding problem where they took quite a lot of time to admit the issue (something which some analysts thought that Apple would have know even before releasing the phone) and setup 1-1 swap replacements for all affected unit at Apple Stores.

Anyways, Mine and my Sisters 5800's are probably the first official purchases in India (considering I got them a day before the official release) and neither are affected till now and I am hoping they will stay that way.

I got a call today from Nokia today asking about my 5800 and whether I am satisfied with it. God knows how they got my number. They even knew my location. This was surprising since I got the units in Hyderabad and I had given them my sister's number rather than mine. I am guessing they have tied up with the service provider (Airtel) to get that Info.
