Altec Lansing VS3251E & Logitech X-540 5.1

Hi.
I am confused between Altec Lansing VS3251E, Logitech X-540 5.1(price diff is not a matter). Please suggest me which one should i go for, I need a 5.1 speaker system for my PC, and please do add if i need any sound card for further refinement my mobo is Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H, I need this 5.1 for music + gaming. Better ideas are also welcome, budget around 6-7k.

Thnx

Speakers: Logitech X-540 ~ 5.4k

Sound card: Creative Audigy 7.1 ~ 1.6k

This will be the most optimum 5.1 setup in a 7k budget.

AL 3251E doesnt even stand a chance

Thn Logitech it is, one more thing is any better worth buying 5.1 set available upto 10k, better thn Logitech X-540..

Thnx

2.1 speakers: Altec Lansing MX5021 ~ 6.9k

SC: Audigy ~ 1.6k

This is a good setup under 10k budget. These are 2.1 speakers. Hence better suited for music. Gaming is almost at par with X-540, the MX-5021 are THX certified.

These speakers are high on bass, some may like it, some may not.

PS: You may want to understand that 5.1 is always slightly inferior in sound quality when compared to similar priced 2.1 setup. Obviously though, you get more speakers, which is preferred by some people. But more speakers -> More wires around the rooom and need for proper placement/wall-brackets.

Hence, you should know whether you want a 2.1 setup or 5.1 setup. Optimum 2.1/5.1 setups (within given budget) have been posted above.

MX5021 is EOL. The MX6021 has replaced it. One would be lucky to find an MX5021 retailing still.

Oh. What about the SQ n price of the MX6021, not recommendable now?
