Hey Guys, i a new member at TE and am looking at buying a good set of speakers. I've gone through the threads and have found out that the sound quality of the ATP3 and the VS4121 are exceptional. However im a bit confused as to which one should i go for? Any suggestions.
Also, any idea about the current prices of these 2 speaker systems? (preferably in mumbai). Am looking to go and buy a set later this evening. Is there a big difference in sound quality between the ATP3/VS4121 and say the creative SBS 370 which sells for a lot cheaper?
And if any of you could tell me the current prices of DDR1 ram would also be a bonus....either 256MB or 512Mb(333Mhz) Which company's would be the cheapest?

I have heard that both are but I own none :ohyeah:
Still VS4121 seems to be a better choice. I have heard it even has a headphone jack.
 
Get the VS4121..it has a slightly more powerful sub, and has a headphone jack in the right satellite...besides, the atp3 is old and outdated...its not made anymore.so all u r getting now are leftovers...the vs4121 is priced almost the same as the atp3...so its the obvious choice...u shud be able to get it for 2.5k or less..;) And they are way better than the creative sbs 370...
 
Hi, im just back from Lamington road and only one of the shops there has it in stock and he quoted 3.6k:S The ATP3 was available with all the shopkeepers but the minimum they quoted was 2.75k. All of them said that the prices have increased a lot recently...Now im a bit confused...dont know wat to do!!!:huh: :huh:
All of the shopkeepers i asked said that the VS4121 is discontinued and no longer available and they were suggesting VS2421....any idea if i'll be able to get the VS4121 anywhere at all? And if so, around 2.5k or below? Cant really go anything above that:( Would have bought the ATP3 if it was around 2.2k but that too was 2.75k and i see no point in buyin it for so much since its quite old now.....

Well 3.6 seems quite ok to me. Newegg is selling it for $75. So in India 3.6 is decent price.
If you bargain hard you may get an ATP3 for around 2.5K
 
The prices for the vs4121 and the atp3 really vary a lot across the stores...the Tata Croma shopping centers were evn giving away the VS4121 for 2.5k in october/november..:S i'm sure about it cos i had seen their catalogue that came with the newspapers..and there was no catch..it was a plain simple deal..dont know why the prices have gone up again..cud be availability issues..

Btw, i had visited the Tata Croma electronics mall at CBD Belapur Off palm beach road in november..and they had quite few VS4121s lying around at tht time...Check em out..u might get lucky...there are a lot of Cromas spread all over mumbai......Welcome to Croma - A TATA Enterprise - Home
 
Thanks for the info Ryan...yes its probably coz of availablitity issues itself coz almost all the dealers at lamington road said that the VS4121 has been discontinued and is no longer available....they just had the ATP3...I'll check out at Croma...any other places where i can get the VS4121?? How bout at the Electronics stores at Opera house? An uncle of mine was suggesting goin to Apna Bazaar at Andheri and checking there....i checked out the Altec Lansing site and they still display the VS4121 in their product range and in the where to buy section they mention their distributors as Rashi Peripherals....can i buy directly from the distributors? And if so will i get the street price from them or the MRP?

Well, afaik, the atp3 was discontinued long b4 the vs4121..infact the vs4121 came as a successor to the atp3 in the market..You can check the Electronics stores at opera..but i dont have any idea about Apna bazaar..:ashamed: But u shud not leave any options..check out all these stores..u might get lucky...

Hi Ryan thanks for all your help. I visited Croma, Alfa as well as some other stores at Andheri...None of them had the VS4121. The Guys at Croma said that they would be able to arrange a set for me but it would cost be 3.5k
Do u think this is worth it? Anyway my budget is not that much so wont be able to buy it anyway...Max is around 2.7, should i just go ahead n buy the ATP3 from Lamington for that much, or should i wait n hope that the prices fall again:huh:
Im also considering ordering the ATP3 from theitwares.com as they its prices at 2.7k, at lamington the least anyone offered was 2.75k and that too coz i said ill be buyin 2. Do u think the guys at theitwares will reduce their prices too? N is there any other good speaker set for less? Something between the Creative SBS370 and the ATP3? I've heard the SBS 370 and found the sound to be pretty good...neva really heard the ATP3 so dont know wats the difference....

Well, in tht case, go ahead and get the atp3...paying 3.5k for the vs4121 makes absolutely no sense..more so when u know tht its prices had hit rock bottom some time back...:no: The high price far outweighs the advantages of going for the vs4121...And yeah, u can get the atp3 from theitwares...they evn give home delivery or u can pick it up from their office...

Between the creative sbs370 and the atp3, i wud still choose atp3...the sound quality is more precise and the bass is thumpy...It achieves a balance across all ranges...the creative sub, on the other hand, only booms so much tht it completely overshadows the vocals and the high frequencies..however i must add tht some ppl actually love tht boomy sound though it is not the most accurate reproduction of the sound as it shud have been...

Neways, we cant expect the world on a tight budget, so a fair balance has to be reached...the atp3 does just tht..it aint extra ordinary, yet not as bad as the others in this range...;)
