I'd reckon a pretty simple heatsink like the U12P or the good ol' TRU120E rev. C with a good fan that pushes 60~70CFM. My TRU120E Black is not so 'Black' anymore thanks to the awesome humid weather all round the year, it has flaked on the fan side and at least there has not been a difference in the performance. Have asked for a LGA1156 bolt-thru kit. :)

Yeah, I think I'll stick to the stock cooler for the time being and pick one of U12P, Scythe Yasya or the good ol TRUe 120

PS: Back to the RAM discussion.

@Gannu: So you are getting your Ripjaws right?

@Lord Nemesis: Which one did you finalize?

I spoke to Prime today, they are asking for a 2750x2 for the Corsair XMS3 1600 so i'd rather get the Ripjaws x 1600 (2x4GB) for 5600 shipped from SMC.
Ripjaws was out of stock at SMC when I inquired a couple of days back. He offered me 2 pieces of 1 x 4GB XM3 Kits for 5.1k.

So are even RipjawsX outta stock? That's a bummer :( after loosing out on even the i5 deal (Getting it locally for a bit of a premium instead of the uber cool 11250/- deal ). Why I am specifically looking for 4x2 instead of 1x4 is the plan to go the whole hog of 16Gigs down the line.

^^ Seriously, I am myself looking for RAM now. Too bad I made the mistake of not buying when the Ripjaws were available in abundance.:( Only 1 x 4GB Kits are available now. I am also not so keen on the 1 x 4GB kits because I intend to fill all slots for 16Gigs. I asked the GSKill rep over at XS whether I would be fine going with four 1 x 4GB Kits mentioning that 8/16GB Kits are not available and he says that there is no guarantee that it would work as per specs. However over at Guru3D, they say that its no problem.

As for CPU, It seems I got the last of the i5 2500k's from SMC. :P

Benefits of sporting a scary avatar :P

BTW how about the other brands? Infected got something from Kingston today.

Erm, why are you guys debating different RAM brands? With multiplier OCing anyway for the new chips, does it really make a difference? I'd just buy the cheapest -1600 DDR3, and be happy.

Yup, we are doing the same, ain't debating anymore. Give a 2x4GB 1600MHz RAM and we'll be happy. Problem nobody has stocks for 4GB modules. Its either 1 or 2 :(

hmmm....there is something called as Ram Timing as well, :P, which is fairly important too IMO. Ofcourse if you talk about general movie watching and browsing stuff, then even 1333Mhz would not be an issue

As far as I am concerned, I am just looking for 4GB RAM Modules that doesn't have clearance issues and will work at specified specs (1600MHz, 9-9-9) with all 4 DIMM slots populated.

Which one and from where?

Which is what some of us just did. Got the Ripjaws 2x4GB CL9 1600MHz for 5k. :P

To hell with the timing - don't give a damn to it since the machine is just meant for gaming.

What is the world coming to, :ohyeah:, some of the most enthusiastic people in India going for lowly VFM hardware, no future of overclocking and high end hardware in India it seems, :(

The HyperX T1's 2x4Gb 1600 C9....Nothing too different from the GSkills and Corsairs we are talking about just better Heatsinks.

I have ordered 2 of the same kits ie 16Gb [maybe too much]...from 2 different sources...one is local and the other is Newegg.ca via a friend.

Both are to come in about 10 days hence I am in no hurry. They are costing me about 6K from either sources for 8gb.

^Yeah we did. The board is slightly expensive compared to the retail pricing from other dealers which is why we chose to wait. :P

Got the chip and the RAM just a while back.

Batch - L048A952

Here's what someone at OC AU achieved - http://www.overclockers.com.au/pix/image.php?id=cngpx&t=1

Definitely not recommended for 24x7. 1.5V doesn't sound pretty good for 24x7 usage. And that extra increment isn't worth it. Not at least to me.

And here's what seems to be the best clocks, suitable for 24x7 usage - http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/8203/linx45ghz124v.jpg

Lord, I guess your batch should be the same as well. Kudos to SMC. My very first deal with them *online* went butter smooth although they could've used a better courier. Blazeflash delayed it by a day for a consignment that was charged 500 INR for AIR shipment.
