CPU/Mobo Alternatives for Sabertooth P67 B3

Ok Guy's I am done with the RAM purchase at last. :P Ordered a couple of GSkill Ripjaws X 8GB Kits. Worked out to 11,490 including shipping. Now I guess my CPU Cooler options have opened up a bit.

So, should I stick to Noctua NH-U12P SE2? Also what is the best place to order that? So far I can see only Prime who has it listed on their site for 3.8k. How good are the stock fans, I know Noctua sells some quality fans, but my understanding is that Noctua HSF's are usually geared for silent operation than for the best performance. Does it make sense to replace one of the fans with a 120 x 120 x 38mm Delta/Scythe Kaze.

Also I am completely out of loop with the Thermal paste market. Last time, I had to use thermal paste, it was Arctic MX2. I guess Noctua coolers bundle a Noctua branded paste, is it any good or should I go with some other option? I would prefer a non-electrically conductive paste at any rate. Any suggestions?

@Lord Nemesis: Thanks a ton mate! Ordered the same kit as yours, 4x2 as of now. Will get the rest when i can afford it.

Guy's need input on the CPU Cooler and Thermal paste as I asked earlier. I also heard that Venomous X as well as Noctua coolers are prone to flaking. How far is it true. Is it an issue in places like Mumbai only?

Lord Nemesis, I think the Noctua coolers are quite good. Cannot commit about flaking (probably we can wait for some Mumbaiker to tell). The fans do the job decent and the NT1 TIM is also decent. Not do dense and spreads well. Correct, they are built for silent performance but they also deliver the cooling which is required. Anyways, you are out of the LGA775 days and the new SNB run cooler and OC much better...!

Honestly no point in replacing with a high flow fan 'as of now'. Try the HSF with the bundled fans (if Noctua) and see how far you can get.

If I exclude the bundling of fans from the equation, (Lets say I have a couple of 115CFM Delta's as well as a few other 90CFM Fans lying around), would Venomous X make a better buy comparing just the Heat Sink performance, bulk and ease of installation factors?

^^

Then apart from the flaking (if any) you cannot go wrong with the Venomous X. It is quite close to performance to the king NHD14, but is smaller and has ease of installation.

^Did you guys manage to find one?

Thanks to Lord Nemesis' prompt update yesterday, I sent a mail to prime today morn and placed an order for the Pro a while back. Had their ICICI account registered so credited the amount right away.

Pretty awesome prices I'd say. Much better than SMC's offering. Glad that we waited. No updates from the Pune camp yet. :P

Did you get the RAM modules?

^^ I ended up paying almost the same as with SMC as I had to pay with credit card. :(. Didn't have access to HSBC account to do NEFT and HDFC required that I wait 24 hours after I register an account for third party transfer before I make actually do a transfer. Maybe I should have waited saved a couple hundred bucks, but I couldn't hold the itch any longer :P

As for RAM, the guy I ordered from already had the last of the stock booked for another customer, so I don't have the RAM yet. He says that new stocks would be in a couple more days, but Pondering whether I should just cancel the order on eBay and try other sources. I also have to get a CPU Cooler and GPU's before I can start with my build.

btw if any one knows of some nice deals for a couple of HD6970's plz let me know.

No updates from the Pune camp yet.

Pune camp is busy building their PC's or figuring out the last bits of parts I guess....

The other 2 have gotten their PRO's.....Yash has his and I believe Sarang too by now.

My Dlx is with the dealer but will collect later as in no hurry ..... I have to still wait for other components coming in [the Xonar and the GTX]...

Cheers finally we can all cross THAT bridge....lol..

Wonderful thread. Now P67 mobos are in stock but no i5 2500K. Any idea of a retailer who has it in stock? Thanks in advance!

^^I guess Prime has them. Last week they quoted an exorbitant 13K for the chip unabashedly citing unavailability, kinda reminds me of Onion prices jacking up :@

@Everyone: Posting this from the fresh build.

i5 2500K (@Stock right now)
P8P67-PRO
EVGA GTX 280 SC
2x2 GB G.Skill Ripjaws (Same one in the Sig, yet to recieve my RAM from Navkar )
And finally the Lancool Dragonlord K62

@Gannu: Lucky you!
