why not get a slightly bigger ssd? it makes a lot of sense if you play games, you can install the games you play regularly or the newer 1's on the ssd as it makes a huge difference in loadtimes & some other areasLord Nemesis said:^^SSD (Corsair F60) is 7.4k. Should be enough as I don't intend to install any thing other than the OS on it. I currently have my windows 7 install on a 50GB partition. A 60GB SSD should work out to 52~54GB of usable space.
Oh I never knew Prime assembles the system as well. That's a good option for 250 Rs.stormblast said:these are frustrating reasons i have given up on assembling pcs thesedays. i used to like doing it earlier but now it makes more sense to just pay 250rs to prime for assembling the system with all the wiring and cable management done by them perfectly.
Sad to hear this, really. I think this will be the 3rd courier you will be sending back. Motherboard, CPU, and now the RAMs. Over that you had to spend more on average RAM to get the boy to boot...! Yea, I never like those single clip DIMM slots. Some how the retention mechanism is based on the friction between slot+chip. Might cause slight issues during chip-creep.Gannu said:^Yeah I did. I am sure I did it the right way. But yeah Asus should have stuck to the traditional design of clips on both sides rather than a single side.
Nvm that I got myself a spare stick yesterday and all went fine.

Bad news: One of the Ripjaws modules went kaput!
With the 2 sticks on the slots, the system wasn't booting. Then when I happened to touch the heatspreaders of the sticks, one of them was HOT. Immediately removed the stick and then the system booted fine. One of them went kaput - no clue why.
My SNB build has become one of the depressing ones. First the processor, now the RAM sticks. :'(
Update!
Good news: Got the replacement processor from SMC and it worked. Many thanks to SMC for the flawless communication and delivery. Previously there was some misunderstanding since they had asked me to get the chip replaced from Intel directly - their intention was to reduce the lead time for the replacement.

Any-hoo got myself a Transcend 2GB 1333MHz stick from a nearby shop and the system booted fine. Have to get the RAM modules replaced now. Will begin Cryshit 2 today.
Finally, all iz well.
Got the replacement sticks from SMC today and installed them. Working absolutely fine.
But I haven't seen any improvements over the previous 2GB stick I had. Maybe the applications I use (read games) do not make use of the extra RAM.
