News Amazon Prime TV charging extra for going ad-free

Is their content really worth paying 1000 Rs per year with ads and 2500(eventually with 999) without ads ?

That's way higher than hotstar and same as Netflix(200 plan). And interesting content like some popular movies are under rent or pay option. Their app is also one of the worst.
I think it depends. I am gonna stay, i don't watch that much and have lots left in watch list.
Quality is very good with FireStickTV, i get 4k HDR and HDR looks good.
I like its player, it has basics covered for me.

The clear cut advantage of prime is shrinking though, esp with prime shopping you get most of the benefits through discounts.
On its own, yeah maybe PV value is questionable now. But they have other things too as part of prime. Prime games for example gives decent number of games, even if you play a couple of them it will cover some. There is music and books too.

Hopefully they will use the money to get more stuff in. Amazon shows are fine, but release of good recent movies definitely has gone down without additional payment.

That's why it's better to choose the shopping only prime membership and sail the seas for video content.
Shopping version is 400rs/yr, you can add free 125rs off vouchers from swiggy one/paytm/timesprime voucher section. It will bring the price even lower to 275rs, I don't know if it works now or not but previously you were able to stack the vouchers, and so I got the 400rs membership for 30 something Rs.
When I renewed my Prime shopping membership earlier in the year, only one of the vouchers were added to the account and the others did not. I had actually stopped using Prime completely due to Amazon's policies, but shopping edition was launched only a couple of months after that and have been using that ever since.
