I need suggestion, should I go for the 3000+ or the 3500+.Quite obviously the 3500+ beats the 3000+ at stock but what about overclocking value?.I have never oc'ed but I wouldnt mind trying. The rest of my specs are gonna be Asus A8n-E, 480w/500w psu, 2gb ocz gold and Sapphier X1800XT.
I am not sooo comfortable with oc'ing because I have never oc'ed in my life and ill have to get a good cooler for it.So I was wondering if I should go for the 3500+ instead as it is pretty decent even at stock as compared to 3000+.
How does the 3500+ oc as compared to 3000+'s 250x9 at stock voltage?

Thanks.

the 3500+..... usually, all Venices have similar oc'ing limits.....

And with the 3500+, you get more stock voltage. And it has one more multi.

On the other hand, you could settle for a 3200+. Run it in sycn with your uber RAM. I would suggest this....

IF you buy a 3000+, and oc that along with your OCZ, then you will have to use an FSB more than 250. And the A8N-E has issues beyond 250.

buy the 3200+ and run the CPU at 250 x 10 and RAM at 250..... I guess that will be possible with your CPU...2.5 ghz shouldnt be too hard. Unless you get a major dud of a CPU.

And if you dont OC, then all the money you spent on that RAM will be waste.... you may as well throw it in the dustbin :P

But will my cpu be stable at that on a stock cooler?
CPU being stable has nothing to do with cooling......

The CPU may be running at high temps but it will be stable....

OF course, in the long run, high temps arent really good....

But as long as you use AS5 and have a well ventilated case, the stock cooler sould be enough....

3500+ eyes closed... Better multi... Easier overclock... Also i would suggest you get a better mobo then that... Cause you are buying AMD 64 at the end of 939 socket so why not buy a good board instead of a value board...

Try to get your hands on a Sli Premium/DFI Ultra D to the least as you would really like to overclock the max of out that chip in coming months... Also dont go anything below 2 GB as of now(Just realised you already have the RAM :P)... And ofcourse not a crappy 500 Watt PSU... Go for an Antec/Zebby Skyhawk to the least... It will help you overclock well in future... try to get a good deal on TE itself for the board... I am sure you will be able to buy a good board...Hope this helped :D...

Few deals to think upon...

Other wise get CPU from here ( http://www.techenclave.com/forums/fs-3200-a8ne-250gb-sataii-zalman-76492.html ) or here ( http://www.techenclave.com/forums/fs-3000-venice-s939-512x2-uccc-76538.html )...

abbey Switch....this rascal already has 2 GB of OCZ RAM !!! :P .....

All he needs is a CPU and mobo.

And yeah, get tha DFI from Harshal!! Amazing price !!! Go for that blindly.

since u do use a lot of photoshop which i presume u do... get the 3500+ and oc it .... u will be able to hit higher clocks than 2.5ghz easily and i guess it will solve ur temp problem as well...coz u get 400mhz extra from the beginning itself...3500+ because its only 1.2k higher and the benefits are obvious :)

Well, thats the thing guys, Im not oc'ing pros like you are, im a pro at css

Jokes apart...Since I MAAAY or most prolly may never OC, do you think the 3500+ will be the right cpu for me? even the A8N-E I wont mind it, I just want my freakin system to be up and running asap.

DD... Overclocking a AMD is easy.... remember if i can play CSS then you can overclock too... And you will seriously not regret buying a good board....

But its your call... still the 3500+ recommendiation styas there.... Go for the chip... Blindly....

The board Harshall is selling is kinda over my budget.I need money for the psu and a new cabby too.Already its comming upto 15k with the 3500+ A8N-E 500w and the cabby.

Which PSU are you looking at?

If your on a Tight budget, then settle with a 3200+, 4get the 3500+... Though, i say, your a complete fool, buying a S939 Single core right now.. You should have looked ahead, and bought a C2D E6300, instead. Now that you have the RAM, I guess you cant do anything about it.

Try going Dual Core atleast, Single Core S939... I cant say anything else.

You wont be happy with CSS Performance btw... You FPS WILL drop to below 40, even @ 2.6 Ghz, ask Karan, he already experienced it.

You may say its better than playing @ the 30 - 40 FPS you have right now, but trust me, once you see 100+ FPS, when no players are around, and when your about the shoot em, your FPS drops to 40.. Its totally annoying.

It doesnt matter. More than 6 Players, @ 640 / 800 / 1024, they FPS, will drop to below 40. The CPU will seriously be putting the Gfx. Card to waste.

Pairing up a 300$ GPU with a 100$ CPU, is the stupidest thing ive ever seen. No offence DD.

@ Sandy, were talking about CPU bottlenecking here.
