Welll... I am running a Venice 3000+ @ 2.6 with a X1900 XT... You say thats stupid :P... I dont think so :bleh:... And my FPS never and i mean never goes below 60... Mostly its 120 with everything maxed out on 1280x1024...

lol here wont be any cpu bottleneck with a 3000 or a 3200+
mesa also running 3000+ @ 2.45 with a 7800 GT FPS never goes below 60-70 @ 1024 everything maxed out :P

^^ I didnt mention 1280, did I? :P.

The Source engine is absolutely haywire. At resolutions below 1024, the CPU is loaded more. And at reso's about 1280, the GPU is loaded more :P. If I play @ 1024*1024, I get a min. of 60 FPS myself. But if I play @ 800 (which I do normally play at), i get a min. for 35 - 40. :(.

Karan ran, his 3000+ @ 2.5 Ghz, w/ his 7800GT, and even his FPS dropped to 40, when some 4 players popped up in front of him. U should have heard him shouting on the mic there ...

Edit : Its upto him anyways.... I would never even go Single Core again. Specially not S939.

Lets hope that his FPS doesnt drop below 50. If it does, ill be waiting here, ready to say "I told you so!!" :P...

Why dont you still wait for sometime and buy an E6300 and an Asrock 775 board ??

And if you are not going to oc, then WTF did you buy the OCZ ram for ??

It doesnt matter. More than 6 Players, @ 640 / 800 / 1024, they FPS, will drop to below 40. The CPU will seriously be putting the Gfx. Card to waste.

Pairing up a 300$ GPU with a 100$ CPU, is the stupidest thing ive ever seen. No offence DD.

@ Sandy, were talking about CPU bottlenecking here.

If you are saying that ivesting 300$ on GPU and 100$ on CPU is the follest thing, then I would say that you are the biggest fool of the millenium. I've even seen people coupling High end Graphics Card with Sempron Processors and they get awesome results. Nowadays Games are more GPU Dependent rather than CPU Dependent. I'll definitely recommend a people who is into Gamimg to invest in the following Order i.e. GPU > Motherboard > CPU > RAM. And for value conscious people GPU > CPU > Motherboard > RAM.

overclocking an AMD can be done by a kindergarden student lol  get the 3500+ dude ... all those extra Mhz will come in handy :) then after a while u can get some nursery education and overclock it :P

hey dd,If u are going to spend around 5500/- on a single core, why not spend around 2k more and get a x2 3800+.As it is after 2 weeks amd dual cores are going to see a huge fall in prices and x2 3800+ will be arnd 7500/-,Aint that a bit future proof?

DD, buy the 3500+ and the a8NE is a very nice board, im on a 3000+ and an a8ne and on a 24/7 oc of 280htt on stock cooler (very loud tho :P)

Dammit, you guys can surely confuse an innocent angle like myself

The last price drop by AMD I heard is scheduled for the 24th in which x2 prices are gonna fall by 55-60%..now Im not familiar with the current x2 prices so I don't know what its price is gonna be after the price drop.

I am still open to suggestions, but Im running out of patience, my cinematics assignments and projects are suffering big time .I need something good and iI need it FAST.

It COULd come down to that mark,....but I honestly doubt that..... It is too low.....

A more realistic price would be something like 9K-10K

or else get the pentium D  ... kidding try getting dual core since ur upgrading when core 2 duo is comin out and that really sets standards for things to come ... and u dont wanna be lagging behind with a single core cpu ... so save up for a month or so and get a dual core cpu ...:| and u wanted a new cabby as well right .. if u want u could sacrifice that ...cabbies can be bought later :)

presently x2 ard 13.5k.......it has too come ard 7.7k...according to dollar conversion......but we guess it will settle at 8-9k here

The X2 3800+ pricing abroad has gone down to 160$. In rupees that means 7.2k. I think itll end up being at least 8k here though. If you want to wait for it, you can go for that, otherwise as i said before, get a 3000+ and overclock it. Any venice will overclock to 2.4 Ghz easily. Even if you cant do it urself, there will be plenty of people to help you. Hell im coming to mumbai in a while, ill do it for you :P In short what id say is either go for the cheapest single core, or wait for the X2. Id do nothing else. Abt CSS, if your concerned my fps ALWAYS stays > 50 fps even with 4 ppl in a gunfight @ 1024 running at 2.5 Ghz.

Did i read correctly??:O

Dual core is bare minimum for you, IMHO!!:cool2:

I know, with hyper inflated costs earlier, many had to drag on single core machines for hours!!:@
But i know a person whose single cpu in new rig is more than twice as fast as old dual cpu rig- so instead of availing more than 4x less render time, he uses 2x less time and renders on one cpu, games on the other in the meanwhile!!:O

But with price drops- i mean u will be getting an X2 3800 for the price many bought a 3200+ once!!

And with that RAM- u stick to S939 DC or maybe that Asrock twins conroe compatible mobo that has DDR compatibility!!

If u can wait- CONROE is a no brainer and i say that though i havent chked one damn review!!:P
I trust my Fellow TE mates and their Raves and Rants blindly!!

Else go for X2 3800/opty 165 after their soon to happen price drops if you need a machine asap!!:)

I don't expect the X2 3800 and opty 165 to cost anything less than 9k and 11k resp. in Mumbai- remember how the Opties came, enthusiasts bought and raved and the prices soared!!

noob remarks- A8NE at 270HTT; 24x7 for 1 month!!
Mostly played RTCW during that time!!
RTCW gives me similar load temps as P95!!
So I play RTCW instead of Priming!!:ashamed:

Hmm...well I think maybe for NOW, ill just go with the 3500+, later on I can always upgrade :D.Btw, I also need to get a LCD so need to be very economical with my proccy and mobo choice.
