Anandtech posted a great rundown of Big Navi.
The numbers are not clear cut as with Ryzen. Some of them were taking benefit of SAM (6800) and overclock (6900XT). Infinity cache benefit is still not clear along with Ray Tracing. Still most interested in 6800XT and if it gives almost 3080 performance for $100 less will probably get that.

Could be its something other than official direct storage. The game specific nature can be inferred by comparing 6800xt and 6900xt numbers - gap for most games anchored to 10% (which would incl the Rage OC) but spikes in other games - presumably ones which have some benefit from smart shift
Smart Access mode is simply an implementation of a reconfigurable BAR (base address register). By default, CPUs only see 256MB of GPU memory (or whatever is set as the aperture size in the bios) due to legacy 32 bit reasons. BAR allows reconfiguring this on the fly to allow any sized GPU memory to be directly accessed by the CPU so that allocations can be done directly by the CPU instead of having to go through the GPU driver. There's no need to allocate on CPU memory and then copy to GPU memory after that.

This support apparently already exists in the open source Linux driver for AMD devices as old as Polaris running off any Zen 2 or later CPU.

Yeah this is exactly what I could also find. I wonder if this is a Chipset & CPU specific feature set, what is stopping them from enabling this for other AMD GPUs as well? In theory it should work with Nvidia's GPUs too?
I was also going through Anandtechs article related to this event & came to realize that 6900XT essentially has double the CUs present in 5700XT for double the performance. This makes me think that the yet to be launched 6700XT, if it is also launched with 40CUs enabled, will essentially perform similar to 5700XT albeit with better efficiency, RDNA2 specific feature set & possibly at a better price. The lowest CU 6000 series card right now is RX 6800 with 60CUs so it is more likely that 6700XT will have 52/48CUs. This might also be the reason why AMD is not in a hurry to immediately launch the mid tier cards right now as they will end up providing better value at lower resolution just like how it is with RTX 3000 series cards.

It already works in Linux on cards as old as Polaris. I see patches dating back to 2017 in the amdgpu kernel module.
As for NViDIA - not really sure as everything they have is closed source.
Just now saw the pricing for 3rd party RTX 3070 series. it those are the nvidia pricing I think RX6800XT will be around 150USD more in india for a better model. Nivida is been sold for any ware between 250USD to 500 USD more. Like rtx 3070 is around 310USD more to the usd counterparts. like 85k to 1lac plus or so and that's not cheap

it's fine, whats the matter ?Just realized my plan to get 6800xt instead of 3080 won't work because have a gsync monitor

BTW AMD India said they will release Indian pricing soon. Hope better sense will prevail.

Wont be able to use Gsync with an AMD card so am locked to Nvidia till i change the monitor.
How is it a deal breaker is what I am asking. I am using 2070s and bearly use the g sync thing. as if I have higher frames then that what I need, its good without even a gsync monitro for me atleast. no tearing issue or anything I have faced till now. have you faced and such things before ?

unless your game doesn't need higher FPS, you wont notice tearing much. if you play online games (FPS) with 120+, you will see the difference with Gsync.

GSync makes a huge difference. Ever since upgrading to 2080 and GSync monitor the gameplay experience has changed completely. No tearing or stuttering whatever the fps. Can never go back from gsync/freesync now.
