Hi

I want to upgrade my system to Amd 64.I want to buy the following components in about a month for maxed 30k.
Amd 64 cpu
Amd 64 mb
512mb*2 ddr 400 kingston memory = 7.2k
400watts powersupply+dvd drive =2.8k

So,I am left with about 18-21k for cpu + mb.

I am thinking about Amd 3400 754(11800) newcastle + Asus k8n(5.6k) =17.4k

I would like to know the cost of socket 939 and their performance increase:
Amd 3000 939 winchester/newcastle
Amd 3200 939 winchester/newcastle
Amd 3400/3500 939 winchester/newcastle

I also want to know the price of cheapest 939 mb and also the cost of cheap but decent performers without onboard agp as I have radeon 9800pro 128mb.
I want to know the price of Asus A8V non-delux and the cost of cheapest nfroce 3 mobo.

I live in New Delhi and plan to buy from SMC International in Nehru Place.

I am not much interested in winchester as they are more expensive and don't perfrom as well except for amd 3500.
I'm also not much considering the amd 3200 939 as I want main power for gaming and amd 3400 754 is better than the former.

I have no upgradebility problem as I won't be upgrading till 2006 end and then I will buy a new system.

So what I want is just better performance for today's games.

seems like u hav done ur research.....
nyways if ur going 754 then get a single stick 1gb ram..
if u go 939 get 512*2...not much diff but thr's a lil

Hello Hardboy [Akshayt from Digit forums] ;)

Anyways you are better off with 3000+ Nexcastle [S754] along with Asus K8V board. It is pretty decent.

If you have a 17.4K budget for the CPU+MB , you should absolutely go for the Socket 939 platform!
Reason #1 - Its more future proof, with the option to go for dual core procs!
Reason #2 - Even with a relatively lower model 3000+/3200+ you tend to easily hit 2.6-2.7Ghz. The winchester chips are that good overclockers.

SO unless on a tight budget I see no point in going for a S754 platform.

Or unless you have too much money to blow it off all over again in six months time... Man get the 939 3200... If not for future upgradabilty then for overclocking...

i have just installed the new MSI K9GM2 with a dualcore amd 2 1 GB ram 533 but had a problem installing from my dvd no idea what the reason was now after a time got it installed on my SATA 160 GB runs good with vista i have tried it but total rubish :hap2:
