AMD announces Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition !
There is some confusion why AMD decided call the new CPU "Black Edition". This moniker recently has been used by Mercedes-Benz to name an especially sporty and limited production version of its CLK series, indicating that AMD also had a special and limited production model in mind. upcoming Phenom X2 and X4 processors. They had a nice series of processors with tag X2 and this is the last one. Good luck to AMD

Special edition processor sings the final swansong for the Athlon 64 X2 brand
AMD has now officially announced the final CPU that will use the Athlon 64 X2 name; the Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition.
The original rumours stated that the new chip would have a clock speed of 3.2GHz, 2MB of Level 2 cache and a TDP of 125W.
AMD said that the processor will be available at the end of August for about $240, which translates into a 35% premium over the 3.0 GHz 6000+ processor, which is currently offered for a tray price of $178. A few U.S. retailers have made the CPU available for pre-odder on their websites with prices ranging from about $260 to $290.
