Since November 2006, so almost three years, there are processors with four cores in the desktop segment. Since then, only the performance of the core was increased, but not the amount.

Despite the lasting existence of the four-cores they are still quite expensive by now. AMD's beginner's processor Phenom II X4 810 is offered for approx. 120 euros, for Intel's Core 2 Quad Q8200 you have to pay 115 euros.

The Athlon II X4 620 clocks its four cores with 2.6 GHz each, the Athlon II X4 630 with 2.8 GHz. Plus 95 watt TDP. Apart from that, 512 KiB L2 cache is built in each core and the northbridge is used with 2 GHz. The run on the current socket AM2+- and AM3 plates.

These are the beginning of Athlon II X4 listings please wait a bit and it should be available in India under 5.5k .

what is the main deifference between athlon II x4 and phenom II x4?????

athlon II have only L2 cache. Phenom II have a large L3 cache also.
Also, Phenom II is a better architecture.

2mb cache? That's it? I think budget customers should rather spend another 1500ish and get the 720BE that will probably outperform these Athlon X4s.

Looking forward to the reviews..

There is no L3 cache's on these chips, lets see how they perform. I have strong hint that the X3-720BE will be faster, and similarly priced too.

It's price justifies the performance. I don't think it will out perform the Phenom II but considering price/performance it's a bomb.
