Its sure a beast bro, awesome performance after a very long run from ATI

i don see how the 590 can compete at the same tdp... this card blows away the competition... cant wait to see some custom coolers like the ASUS DirectCU II on it :D

Seems like a good option vs. two accelerators. But the clocks are less compared to a [strike]6870[/strike] 6970.

AMD , does come with good GPU`s but what can sustain them longer in this run is the driver support . Nvidia does work hard when it comes to drivers support .

In the words of PC Gamer - this beast answers the question that nobody had in the first place : how to squeeze two Radeon 6970’s into one PCI slot.

if i plug this card into my machine right now, it's gonna melt my monitor. And probably my face.

Also, for that price tag, I'm hoping it also makes coffee at least. Wtf 35k?

It would be more than 35k. 35k would be a very nice price point for it in India. 2x Radeon 6950's cost 33k and 2x Radeons 6970s cost like 41k. 6990 should translate to somewhere around 38k.

Anyways, the only thing I don't like about this card is the lousy stock cooling solution. I mean a uber and expensive card like this deserves a much better cooling solution right on AMD's reference board. A stock cooler that starts to whine 2 min into a 3DMark Vantage run just does not cut it.

Beast of a card, 375w card DAIEM !!!

Its almost as expensive as 2 6970's but then this is one card with 2 6970's. Prolly thats why it took a little time AMD were binning chips for this baby.

Power consumption is plain nuts I wonder how this is gonna run in India with the heat here. Hope nvidia can get something out and we can have a little price war.

6970 = $350 = 22k approx
6990 = $700 so prolly arnd 37-43k, around 40k approx

can nearly touch 45k too :(

Well i think AMD has left this job for AIBs to design their own cooling solutions and this has been a general trend. If AMD had built a better cooling that would have made it more expensive, still the new cooler is 20% more efficient than that on HD5970. I believe almost all AIB partners would opt either 2 or 3 fan design instead of single because anything beyond 300W is too much for a single fan. :)

So I've been thinking of this card for a bit now. If it is ~35K (not likely) it is quite a deal as my aging 4870x2 cost me around 33K and this is roughly 3x the performance, with just 100W more dissipation(which is not a problem for my case or PSU). I guess it'll come down to final prices and configuration as 2x 16x crossfire is a little difficult to get a hold of just now, only the 890FX has this setup. I guess 2x 8x will bottleneck a pair of 6970s pretty badly, unless running multi-display gaming.

Also if you're not running 2560x this card is a waste. It'll be like a guy who runs 580SLI on a 16:9 1920x monitor. Colossal waste of power and resources.

Don't expect it to be 35k, you will be really really lucky if that happens. Closer to 40k imo. However, 35k+ does have some chance, but more like 40-45k seems realistic!
