Better buy 1090T as it is only 1000 more and comes with HSF and 3 years warranty. What motherboard are you using? Unlocking 960T is not guaranteed. As it was OEM only, we do not even know the ratio which successfully unlocks like we do for the 555 BE.

Just wondering better to buy this - AMD Phenom II x4 960T BE 3.0GHz 8MB Quad Core AM3 95W | eBay or get a 1075T / 1090T. Any inputs guys?
What is your budget and usage?

If it is gaming oriented any of the Quad Core Denebs ~ AMD Phenom IIx4 965 / 970 / 980X, if more into multi-threaded, heavy workload applications (MAYA, Photoshop...) the Hex core Thubans ~ AMD Phenom IIx6 1055T / 1075 / 1090T / 1100T.

By the way if you are buying a brand new RIG from scratch why not look at the Intel Sandy-Bridge line-up. Performs better, sucks lesser power still and runs Cool 'n Quiet (irony in the statement). AnandTech - Bench - CPU

Hope this helps.

no point waiting, best you can do is buy a 990FX motherboard and a cheap Phenom II.
That's what I would do if BD isn't available by August-September. But I don't think there are any affordable 990FX Mobos available yet.

My board is MSI 890GXM-g65, memory - 2 x 4 GB Corsair Vengeance. Not into gaming, just wanted to try a phenom thats all. current proccy is Athlon X4 630

Get a 955 it's cheap and does the job very well. 6 core has issues with 4+1vrm design mobos like the Msi 7xx and 8xx series

Then go for a AMD Phenom IIx4 955 ~ 6000/- here in Bangalore, entry level Black Edition processor and can hold its own in most demanding applications, alternately if you are looking for a bit more of bite go for the newer Phenom IIx4 970 / 980X, will set you back by ~ 7500/- to 9000/-. The only increment in these is a speed bump so the overall performance leap is not that phenomenal, like in the Intel Core i3 to Core i5 series.

Unfortunately bruv, 9** series chipsets will come with the opening salvo of Zambezi processors, and buying a AM3+ socket equipped 8** series chipset will just not cut it for those who want to see a substantial performance bump. This leaves the OP with a concise decision of buying a Deneb OR Thuban and then later next year jumping on the Intel Ivy-Bridge OR AMD Bulldozer bandwagon.

I think the Phenom IIx4 960T is a exclusive to companies like chain retailers-Dell (OEM Exclusive) because the T most probably stands for Turbo which was incorporated in the Thuban architecture, thereby this processor is a Thuban die quad -- haven't seen this listed on any site either it is, the Phenom IIx4 955 / 965 / 970 / 980X are listed on retail sites. TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!AMD,CPU,Processor,AMD Processors,Phenom,Athlon,Dual Core,Quad Core
This CPU is not available in retail market, the listing on ebay said so too.

All done and said i am picking up 955BE @ 4500/- from TE Member.

So finally i managed to get a 960T @ 91 $, but due to sellers mistake, ( he had 2 listings One for 840T and one for 960T), he shipped me a 840T proccy, that came with two bent pins. I spoke to the seller and got 50% refund . effectively i am using a 840T @ 45$ + 700 shipping / customs - Aramex.
Now the bad news :( my 890GXM-G65 will not unlock 5th and 6th core. Anways not a bad deal @ 3k i suppose.
