OMG.... tempting for me to junk my Intel E8400 and get this....due to Vmware work i am anyway looking for Q9550... good price....

Any DDR2 boards that will go with this ? If you can provide a quick reference or better still sell such boards, I would like the CPU and board shipped today itself.

A cheap DDR2 board that will go with this is the Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H for around 4.2~4.3k but its uATX.

Thanks mate for link....but gaming or any 3d apps is not my area of concern... i need mas many as possible cores... in vmware i need to assign separate cores to separate virtual systems. currently there is no application or game which can utilize all 6 cores separately....so E8400 will be definitely better....but going towards this x6 menace dumping my P5QE + DHX CL4 DDR2 8GB kit...last year only invested too much on this...but Q9550 is still too expensive...and Intel is playing games these days...so many sockets....i dont think there will be any 6 core for Socket 775...may be i will continue with this setup and wait for Q9550 / Q9440 in TE market. and after a year or two...dump entire setup and get Mobo where i can put 2 physical Xeon processors which are Quad core....lets see how it goes..

+1 same here, I do think VMware would be able to take advantage of the extra cores

AMD wud add Nested Paging to ur VT Extensions , by AMD , known as RVI , that further reduces overhead for StateFul apps , which we won't get with a Q9550 | but for normal VT use , u won't see difference ........

If required I can check that(though we always use ESX over workstation), I got one 8 cores XEON machine in office and workstation team sits in next floor. :ohyeah:. I am surprised you are using your machine for official purpose but let me skip it for now and not crap this thread any more,

Come on guys THE deal is here, grab it. :hap2:

6 cores at just 10K, even an E8500 C2D cost more than that.
