CPU/Mobo AMD slashes chip prices by up to 25%

Most of the Opterons available here are the Socket 940 versions, not the Socket 939 versions. Unless someone can contact their dealer and confirm otherwise :)

Eddy what about the two models of opteron in deltapage website???? It was shown under the 939 dual core X2 section.

1. Opteron 242 and 246 models are not dual-core

2. Opteron 242 and 246 models AFAIK are not available in the Socket 939 format (at least so far, only the 1xx models are the ones i've seen supporting that socket).

3. Delta have also listed a "Tyan Opteron" motherboard in their pricelist, I dont think they'd need to have it listed unless these were Socket 940 Opterons ;)

Nah! Don't need dual-core Opterons. 146 would do good for me. And, it doesn't
cost a bomb either. Are all 939 boards Opteron 939 compatible? nForce4?

Eddy is right! AFAIK, Opteron 939s are not available here yet. 2xx and 8xx Opterons
are 940-pin only. 1xx series is available under both 940 and 939 pin category.

Well it looks more like the 754 A64 chips have been shelved and not the semprons. To clear up about opterons, all the 24X and 25X chips are single core. The 26X and 27X are dual core. The opteron 144 and 146 chips are the best deal right now cos it seems that they are manufactured using the FX-57 die and hence overclock insanely.

@Goldenfrag: Probably he quoted you the 3GHz dual core P4. There is no 3GHz dual core Xeon. Dual core Xeons exist only in 2.4,2.6 and 2.8 GHz speeds. The 2.8GHz socket 604 Xeon costs well over 1000$.

I would expect it to be perfectly compatible with most boards, since it is nothing more than a San Diego/Revision E core. However it would be upto the board manufacturer to update the BIOS to correctly identify the processor "model name", else it may be mis-recognised as another model, thats about the only setback I see. As you know, most people with this chip have used it comfortably on a DFI nF4 board.

All Opterons with model numbers equal or greater than "x60" seem to be dual core procs , i.e. Opteron 165 to 180 procs, Opteron 260 to 280 procs, Opteron 860 to 880 procs.

And yep, Chaos is right, only the non-64 bit Semprons have been given the axe. Either way, only the 64-bit Semprons are mostly available in our market.

However , they dont seem to have any mention of the 3000+ proc at all. The 3200+ has been pegged at the 155$ mark which is quite close to the previous 145$ mark that the 3000+ usuall retails at, so i'm guessing they're just bringing in the 3200+ down in price to replace the 3000+ processor spot.

I have heard a dealer mention something about new socket for AMD CPUs!!
Maybe thats why bottomend models axed and relevant mobo prices dropping!!But thats only speculating!! Sorry!!

The new Socket is Socket M2 . But thats expected only in the 2nd quarter of next year ! I'm surprised a dealer actually knows about an upcoming socket. Usually they barely have any clue about products that are currently in production :bleh:

Where u goin Sir C_E??
i will be in hospital when u r back!! and don't know how long- depends on how successful it is!!
All the best!!
Take care!1

Price slashing has worked out well guyz.

www.deltapage.com

and Gigabyte K8N51GMF based on NVIDIA GeForce 6100 chipset+ has arrived here.

Edit:I called Mr.kamal, Delta Computers and confirmed the pricing.

OMG !!! Drop of 1.5K on proccies and 1K on MOBO !!! Also, Skt. 754 MOBOs r down by 2K !!! This is good news for all those who r gonna buy now.

Apparantly no drop in X2 prices here. :(

I would like to get my hands on a X2 4200+ or even better ...a 4400+, but the pricing is

pretty bad here. In comparison, Intel 820D is priced only 12,500/-. Quite competetive, I

would say.
