WORD HAS IT that the pretty pretty socket M2 from AMD will be a little late. How late? Well we were hearing March, then March/April, AKA late Q1/early Q1. That was the way it would stay for months and months. It looked like a Cebit rollout, availability starting soon after.

Then all of a sudden, we heard September, a big oopsie in the chips world, a 2Q slip. That was the story for about a week, late Q3. Soon after, a bunch more people said it was not late Q3, but early Q3, July or so to be exact. Moral of the story, it is looking an awful lot like a 1Q slip, and a mid-year launch.

PS. Pathetic news for me. Im upgrading in May/June :(.

You don't *have to* upgrade in June :) Looks like your PC will pull through 2006 so an upgrade in early 2007 should be worthwhile.

another thing is prices will fall..then rise for 939 I mean..fall when M2 comes and rise when stocks r low...which is a general trend. The real catch is to figure out when is which....:ohyeah:
now I am also planning a rig change, scrapping 1 PC al2gether...and getting a new one (migrating components like drives of course) so this is an impotant factor...Coming to Intel I was surprised to see 945 boards from gigabyte going @ well below 6K....I think the 945 board is technically as sound as an Nforce 4 (no flame wars pls :P )....and so cheap, when intels have been price b1tches in the past...And the 955X model - 18K  this bloody one high one low chipset thing 4 intel has gone on too long....And I should know - using a 815E instead of an 810E and then the 875's instead of the 865's...What's the extra 4 anyways??? beats me..:@ And lets not forget that I paid 17K for a 925X board....when its not even available now...anybody going to the shops is being palmed a 915 for low end and a 945 for high end...comments??
Anyways..all these platforms should see a general fall in pricings.. but not for the next 3-4 months.
Just some thoughts here :)

Well, thing is my Mum and Dad are going to USA in May. So its better i upgrade then. Coz i dunno who will come down from USA. by the end of the year.

^^ Buy a new vid card and RAM from the US. I'd prefer buying the mobo here itself for warranty reasons :)

^^^Yes I think it makes more sense to get Some souped-up RAM and GFX. As how and what works better will be known after sometime - say in 15-20 days after the launch.

PS: I broke the news to you first as I knew you were eagerly waiting for it.

agrees with harshal .. btw i am happy for the delay atleast wont give my ass a pain for another upgrade within any time soon :bleh:

Yup. I think ill buy a 1GB*2 Kit and a 7900 / x1900 series card then.
Then wait for AM2 to come :).
Yeah try and get a 1GB x 2 kit of DDR2-800 and a nice vid card. Maybe later you can get a proccy from abroad, but I'd recommend getting a DFI from India (now that they r available, we should make use of warranty/support)

Here... if its going to be from US

Corsair XMS2-6400 - 2 GB | 5-5-5-12
OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Gold DC - 2 GB | 5-5-5-10
Patriot DC DDR2 800 (PDC22G6400LLK) - 2 GB | 4-4-4-12

I hope this helps. Yup, 2 GB DC kits only. Better to put money where it shines. Corsair is very good but somehow prices are too high. So I personally have ruled it out :D

PS: This list includes products of my choice as of now.

SH1T...lookit the timings on those OCZ's...when r these coming to India.....WHEN...please??????

DDR2 timings really sucks ...... i think OCed DDRs are better than those insanely clocked DDR2s ....

^^^ yeah.... I know, but AM2 as well as Pentium are DDR2 friendly not to mention the lower voltage at which they do Higher frequency (Bandwidth is different matter) and that's where this come in, my friend.

i don't think lower voltages are any benefit ...... and i thot around this time DDR3 will be launched but still there is no ray of light about DDR3 so i think AMD will go for DDR2 but still i think there is no benefit with DDR2 ...... very few apps are there which are more bandwidth hungry than DDR ....... anyways i think i will take time to shift from DDR to DDR2 :D ...... its gonna be expensive for the time being .... :)

Ahem, the Patriots TIMINGS ROCK!

Why dont you push DDR 1 to 400 Mhz then see the timings :bleh:...

4-4-4-12 is awesome!!!!!

Btw, how much do those kits cost, right now?

c'on GF its not like DDR is ours and DDR2 is urs :P ..... we are talking about timings and u have to accept it that its timings sucks ...... its it better to run it at 300Mhz with tighter timings rather than 400Mhz ......
