it is rather sad that there is shortage of 4770>>the best VFM mid range card>> 4850 with its higher power consumption and its insanely high temps is not recommended now...

I just hope this happens soon and the dropped price reflects in the Indian market. Want a 1 GB 4850 now. The 4770 is still eluding me.:P

There's a very minor difference between a 4770 and a 4850 in terms of performance. Also, 4770 OCs way better.

even if 4770 comes at same price as 4850, still i wud prefer 4770 coz 40nm and DDR5 OCs much better and consumes very less power and runs cooler.

At stock speeds, it comes neck to neck with 9800Gt, and Beats 4830.

At OC speeds, it beats the 4850

high demand for 4770 and the card shortage maybe causing this reduction of prices. good for new buyes. . i

The dropped price still doesnt reflect here in India. Sapphire HD4850 512mb is 115$ on newegg and here it's still around 8.5k.

TSMC's 40nm process is having major problems apparently and production is stopped at the moment to solve yield problems. Not sure if its true but since its out of stock everywhere could be a possibility

i can not find any 4770 in the market..

dealers are claiming that ati/amd is withdrawing them coz of some major defect...n claiming it to arrive only 2months later...

dunno how much of that is true..

btw i got HD4850 512MB DDR5 for 8.7k for a frnd 2day :P

No fault in 4770. It's a great card but 40nm yields at TSMC aren't great and the card has vanished from the market. Even newegg doesn't have it. The demand for 4770 is huge but supply is just trickling.

4770 is out of stock almost everywhere :( but instead of lowering prices for 4850 , 4770 prices have increased in india :@

Well, any price cuts for the HD4850 will take a long long time to reflect here...
Coz its AMD+ATI...:P

Secondly, 4770 is going short in supply in huge numbers, so prices would be high and not going to decrease anytime. So, if 4770 stays at 7k bracket, 4850 will be definitely priced above that at ~8k.

So, whoever thinking of price cuts for 4850 can forget that as of now...:bleh:

BTW, i also read somewhere that 40nm production house of ATI is having some issues...Probably that's why all this fuss...:)
