CPU/Mobo AMD X2 5050e V/s AMD X2 5600+ (Help Needed)

Hi everyone on this great platefrom

I am in dilemma about getting AMD X2 5050e 2.6GHz 45W or AMD X2 5600 + 2.9GHz 65W.
Which one is better? (I am not a gamer:) )
Please help me out !!!

Umm....It depends for general computing an AMD X2 5000+ would be better and if you dont game and want strictly an HTPC I still think the AMD X2 5000+ would cut it.

I was in the same dilemna.
5050e is supposed to have a TDP of 45W only but i have my doubts on the actual values. :(
Coz the power usage chart on Anandtech has left me a lil confused, especially wrt the 45W chips.
Else specs wise it looks good and i doubt you will find it slower than a X2 5600+ in daily usage.
the X2 5600+ will be more than enough imho for any non-OCing type of regular user imho- enough power for most tasks.
It also enjoys a decent position on Tom's cpu charts, if i am not mistaken, especially in real-life tasks.
One thing is that, DDR2 800 ram will work at full 800Mhz by default with the 2.6GHz X2 5050e while the RAM may underclock a bit on the 2.9Ghz X2 5600+ as it is with all X2 chips with a 'y.5'x multiplier/odd number clock speed, iirc.
I am more confused between the 5050e and the 5400BE, both of which are not available locally afaik and wondering if either will be worth the premium i may have to pay to get them imported. :p

Ya just for general computing wouldnt the AMD X2 5000+ be better it runs ddr2 800 on full speed I think....Also they are quite OC'able.....

Would the AMD X2 5000+ have problems decoding 720p / gaming (unless paired with 4870 where it would serve as a bottle neck )

Because I am in the position where I can't decide between E2180 or AMD X2 5000+ I am not gonna OC.

I have X2 3600+ with 8600GT, no problem decoding even 1080p.
