CPU/Mobo AMD x2 7750 overvolting

Hey guys!!!!
I jsut bought an ASUS M3N78EM and An AMD x2 7750 BE well, honestly the experiance is not too good.
The processor heats up immediately and runs idle @ 54 deg Cel.

After doing a lot of R&D on it, I found ut that the motherboard is suppling more voltage to VCORE than reqd and hence the heat issue.
please help me with a way....

usually on Asus mobos, the vCore is set as Auto in BIOS setting by default. At the first press on '+' for incrementing the vCore it will be set to its exact value required.

Can you please elaborate on how you came to the conclusion ? That would help in better troubleshooting.

By itself any mobo won't provide more voltage unless u set it to...:cool2:

The problem seems to me like either a processor fan issue or heatsink placement or some serious airflow issues in the cabinet...

Could u please elaborate a bit with some screenies so that we can help u better.

The AMD x2 7750 specs itself claim to have a lower vcore voltage.

HSF is all set and currently the cabinet is open on 1 side and hence no issues on the air in the case.

The vcore voltage currently is ~ 1.36+ which is way too high for the x2 7750

how can i lower the vcore in the M3N78EM mobo?
 
ya u right, 1.28V is the default vCore for X2 7750BE. May be u got a faulty mobo, or try updating ur BIOS.

Dude you are not the only smart person left, he might have done his homework before posting ( unlike you :) ). Many mobos tend to overvolt on auto settings ( my biostar tp35 also does that ) . See what is the minimum you can set in manual settings .
 
Its expected with the stock hsf and Indian heat. Even my oced 4000+ @2.7 GHz, 1.36V idles at 50-55 which is not desirable so But I am sure with an aftermarket heatsink, things would be way different. Unlike the round copperbase stock intel hsfs, amd hsfs are really bad.
 
A friend of mine has the exact same problem, with the exact same mobo. THe fault is with the ASUS. ASUS mobos do not support undervolting on their m-atx mobos. My friend had to return the mobo and get a gigabyte. Now temps have dropped and VCORE is normal :) there is no solutions if you want to continue with out mobo. I am sure it will burnout the CPU within a year.
 
well guys i finally did this.

> enabled QFan in Bios and set the speeds.

> transferred the 120mm fan from the PSU 12V molex to chassis fan conector on mobo

> Enabled Cool n Quiet on the mobo, installed it on vista as well and installed a 120mm fan in the front of the cooler master elite

> Installed a Sunbeam CCF 92mm and now the core speed runs across 1350MHZ-3000MHZ OC and temp varies from 41C - 60C

Guys but still i need some help plz let me know if something can be done.
 
I suggest you try reducing the voltage supplied maybe through something like AMD overdrive.

I use it in an HTPC and so don't need too many clocks. I have undervolted it to 0.85volts at 1800MHz stable. I haven't tried but I may be able to take the frequency higher (just don't need the clocks). Temps are just a couple of degrees over room temperature.

AFAIR I was able to run stock clocks at 1.2 volts absolutely stable. Maybe you could try and even lower if you aren't trying some major OC.

Errr... That looks so wrong :S Did you check if the HSF is seated right ? Does it rotate freely after the screws are tightened ? Can you post a screenshot of Coretemp, CPU-Z and HWMonitor ?
 
My Gigabyte m/b supplies 1.296 V default to my 7750. I am getting 39C idle on stock speeds as well as on an overclock to 3.0GHz(15x multiplier). Load temperatures on Orthos are approaching 60C, but games run at around 54C. I am using the stock HSF with some crappy local white thermal paste.
