WE WON'T tell you too much about AMD's new socket but you have to know that it will accommodate future socket M CPUs. It is scheduled for a Q2 2006 launch. These CPUs will support dual Channel DDR 2 memory.

The high end dual core is codenamed Windsor, the single core socket M CPU is codenamed Orleans while the Sempr0n replacement is codenamed Manila. All of these CPUs support dual channel DDR 2 memory and of course socket M. A Sempr0n with dual channel DDR 2 sounds like a juicy platform.

Enough of this, here is a picture.

Nice, isn't it? :P.

Dont know if its "the One". Too bad..... the word is that its delayed to anywhere between July-September 06. Goldenfrag.... Opty maybe??

That is a photochop!! Nice find guys. AM2 has the pins on the socket and the holes on the processor just like LGA775 from Intel. The other information is true goldenfrag. Thanks for that. Wonder if the sempron will really be launched on AM2....especially since its not even available for Socket939 yet in retail.

Raghu.

Raghu, dude, I dont think that's right info. Its not going to be like LGA775. Nop, Not even close.

EDIT:

Goldenfrag, man... wat can I do? I am waiting just like you to try DDR2 + new chip.

Abbe chill, no offence was meant there. But seriously, ill be stranded if the damned AM2 isnt released by May. Damn those delays!!! :@.
