Amp Suggestions for AKG K7XX

im in the second lot on massdrop which is shipping in feb 2015 but that saves me time to save up for amp,
any suggestions on powering these beasts... tubes would be preferred. unless some solid state that work well with akgs .. no budget as such but like to keep it under 400/500$ .. i can spend higher if its worth it.

I've heard the 701 a long time ago, very briefly with a ALO Pan Am and Mullard tubes. Sounded quite good off the built in DAC, think they go new for about 400 even less used on head-fi. The amp is also a great match for the LCD2 if you ever get a pair

I think there might be better and cheaper amps out there these days, but the guy who owned the amp insisted that with any amp, Mullard tubes sound best with the AKG K70x headphones, so this might be something to look into when you're doing your research.

I understand the K7XX is more than just a cosmetic change to the K70Xs so not sure if all this still holds good!
