Planning to visit andaman and nicobar islands (port blair) in first week of november.
I want to know the best way to spend the vacations there? Is the place worth visiting?
What are the must go places there? The best way i can spend my time there.

Also suggest the best place to get the hotel there at good prices (i wont stay in 5 stars :-P).
Thirdly, what is the best means of transport for roaming and going to far off places. What are the ways to visit island beaches there?

Best way for roaming in Andaman islands is hire a Cab as you can go to one place to another easily..and do visit haveleck island known for diving and all adventure sports and visit marine museums too ..

I went there twice, but both times damm i missed the havelock island :(:(, its a must visit, and you should go there.

Also you should look for mud-volcano, jail during night, Cave in Baratang island, North island something for corals, and Ross island to watch deers on the wild (i think it had an ancient church also), you can even feed them, and Smith island to get privacy mostly untouched by tourist :D :D

The best part of the island is its climate, its the best climate i had experienced in my whole life till date :X:X

It would good if you told us how many people are you, do you have any kids with you visiting the place and such details.

me and my elder brother, mom and dad.. i am 20...so, no children and all
In the case of many in India, if you don't have any children, then you are it :D

What should be one's ideal budget when visiting these Islands? And also, how much time is required for a proper experience of the entire region? Are 4-5 days enough, or we need more than a week?

^ 4-days if you are not planning to visit havelock, visiting havelock will take 2-3 days extra, since only one ferry goes there, stay one night, and return in ferry next day. Also, if you planning on havelock, make sure you make booking in advance, else it wont be possible to reach there

Talking about hotels, i found them to be extremely cheap in comparison to other places, however personal taxi is little bit costly which will cost you 1400-1500 per day (Tata Sumo)

From where i can make prior bookings? I am also planning for one side return from havelock in sea plane. where i can book that as well?

November being peak season, would suggest you to do your bookings now as the hotels there are small and the good hotels get sold out pretty fast. For Andaman, I would recommend Megapode Resorts. This is run by the Andaman Tourism Authority and is a pretty decent resort. Take the sea facing cottages for the ultimate view and experience. There are only 4 or 5 of these so book them early to avoid disappointment.

For Havelock, you have to book a ferry. You have 2 options, the govt ferry or the Makruzz Catamaran. Makruzz is private, is more expensive than the govt ferry and runs only once a day from each port but is faster. I wouldn't recommend the sea plane as I've heard the schedule is very erratic and they have very expensive luggage norms (like Rs100/kg or something) but you're free to explore that option. The best resort there is Barefoot Resorts but it is expensive. It again has very small number of rooms so book early to avoid disappointment. If you want a cheaper option try looking at Eldorado Beach Resort. That being said Havelock has very basic amenities and infrastructure so don't expect much except nature.

Rest there are a lot of things to see and do so it really depends on how much time you have on hand and whats your budget. Do some research and if you have any questions drop me a PM. Tours are aplenty and you don't really need to worry about doing prior bookings. Even taxis can be hired once you land and its cheaper to do that rather than pre-book but have your hotel arrange a pickup at the airport for you.

On a personal note, if you're planning a trip to Andaman from North India, I would actually suggest against it and rather you visit South-east Asia instead. The infrastructure is better, the experience is better, its cleaner and the cost is roughly the same. In fact the amount you would pay for hotels in Andaman, you could get into some very good resorts in Thailand or Malaysia.

Andaman is a great place to visit. I went there for a week and still missed a few places.

If you eat non-veg then do visit Lighthouse restaurant on the main island. Will never forget the Chilly crab i had there :D

First of all thank you for the detailed informtion. helped me a lot.
I have planned a 5 day vacation. on 7th noon i will be there and on 12th noon, i have returning flight which i have booked prior.
Anyways, as i cannot afford more than this time now, i have planned 2 days stay in port blair, 1 day in havelock and 1 day in neil.
what do you think will it be a good idea?

secondly, how can i book hotels at havelock and neil island from here? are these places that much in demand that i wont even get hotel rooms if i wont book prior?

thirdly regarding booking of ferry's and sea planes, i am planning one side trip by sea plane, and one side by ferry. Will i get the seat in both, if i book them 1-2 days before as i dont find any online bookings for them. specially for seaplane, can i get the seats for 4 easily if i book it 2 days prior from port blair?

fourth thing, please can u list the best of best places to visit there? as i dont have much time so it will be best if i can get the view of best of best places there (including all islands and beaches).

P.S. maybe i wont go for scuba and sea walk because its really costly.

waiting for your reply.
