Another option is the Sigma 18-250mm OS HSM lens. But beware of Sigmas pathetic quality control. Better to test first before buying.

Hmm... I dunno. I still like it as all in one. Isn't there *any* other lens coming close to 18-270?

1. Tamron 18-270mm (are there variants of the same lens? I found online shopping lens where they mention this to be a macro lens o_o )

2.Sigma 18-250mm OS HSM lens

Also, I've seen some really awesome mountain scapes where there is an awesome reflection on the water. Is there a special filter for this? And, I'm also interested in going in for a bunch of filters. Please suggest a few of them and their specifications.

Both the lens U mentioned have IS...

Tammy call it VC and sigma as OS..

Is it necessary... -- kind of yes in super zooms...(means its always better to have them for these lenses)

I need to know the diff between these two.. Why does 250mm and 270mm have such a steep price gap?

^^ Optically they are very similar. However the 18-270mm version has VC (IS/VR) which is very useful beyond 150mm or so.

For macro lens you can opt for any of the below

1. Canon 100mm f/2.8

2. Tamron 90mm f/2.8

Both are good. I haven't used them myself but some of my friends use them and they are damn good.
