Hi ,
My mercury450w PSU died. Useless PSU just 20 days and its gone. Now I need a new PSU , so I thought I would go for VX 450 Corsair , but my dad insisted to reduce the budget now I not very much used to any other brands that offer same reliability.
So if you guy's can suggest a PSU for this
Amd athlon 7750 2.7 (Need to OC 3Ghz)
4 GB Drr2 800 Corsair
XFX 4850
DVDR
160 GB seagate
1 rear 1 front fan.
Asus m3a78-em

So my budget should lower than the vx 450 which is 4k. Something around 2.9-3.5 Max?

Stay away from POV (^). Quite a few of them going for replacements.

Tagan TG500-U37 for 3.3k (IINM!)/Gigabyte Superb 460W for 2.3k/Corsair CX400 (3k)/SeaSonic S12II 380W (3k).

If you can find the Seasonic or the Corsair, opt for them over the Gigabyte & Tagan.

U running 4850... insist ur dad for a VX450, try to make him understand investing on a low budget PSU degrade component life. Try for VX450 or CX400.

@hash

If you can find a Corsair CX400 around 3.2k otherwise the Sea sonic 380 for 3k is best for you.

I Am Selling my Cooler master extreme power plus 500 Watts PSU, which has been handling 4850 along with an overclocked intel E7200 @ 3800 Mhz with quite an ease with out any issues, If intrested PM Me.

Is seasonic is as good as corsair ?

Seasonic makes power supplies for Corsair. Corsair rebrands them and sells them as Corsair PSUs. :P

400CX = Seasonic

450HX = Seasonic

450VX = Seasonic

520HX = Seasonic

620HX = Seasonic

650TX = Seasonic

PS: Forget the HX450 & the HX520. You get neither of them here. :P

Seasonic if you have bucks.

Or a zebby pro 550/600 shud do the job easily, as its currently handling my PII X4 oc and 4870 oc with ease. Its for 2.8k i think.

Well , I was so desperate for a new PC and I got it delivered at around 7 PM and I asked the dumbass why he didn't upgrade the PSU, so he hurried into the night and got me the mercury 450 watt for 500 Rs. It actually ran well with a UPS i borrowed from my friend with only rare crashes. But when my friend took away the UPS I got frequent crashes when I played high end games.

And then I started overclocking the rig just to get a higher score in 3d Mark , and i did run 3d Mark overclocked and got 11k . Turned off PC then turned it on again this is what happens

All fans rotate once and stop(Rear fan and processor fan)
Red light flashes once from the 4850
Only Mobo light remains on.

Which made me decide the PSU -> Dead(Rust in Peace) Will be in some garbage can by now
