PC Peripherals antec nine hundred

aggree abt the coolin...though i cant comment on space till havin a look at both...
and good idea abt the netting zhopudey...ill look into it..

@rrcsraghu r u facin any probs?...with cabling as suggested by zhopudey...

i don mind screwin stuff in etc...i mean its jus once that u assemble ur comp..ryt..

an since even rrcsraghu has an 8800gts...fittin it in shouldnt be a prob...

on 15th...ill know what im buyin...

in most of the motherboards lik mine....the 4-pin power connector is on the top left corner......near all the ports....but the psu is to be placed below the mobo...if ur psu has a short wire...the it'll have to run over ur card....looks sick....

about the dust....true...it literally sucks in dust along with air->the front fans i mean.....@Zhopudey--why dint i think of tht netting thing??

about the noise....in addition to the stock fans..i have another side fan....and i run the front two in hi-speed...and the other two in medium...my side-fan has only one speed.....with all this...i find it not very noisy....wen compared to my prev cabinet.....

if you are used to takin out ur hdds to ur frnds place..then u mite have trouble....the HDD cage makes it diff for u to screw in the hdd...lik....ur hand wont go in.. to place the screws correctly before screwin it in....

and...its quite heavy....if u try carryin it around

but other than all this....its a real gud cabinet.....looks great....
wen u get it at such a gud rate...i think u shud go for it...

lol guys use fan controller if ur so keen to shut that noise off .. its as simple

but with all those blue led' fans nd stuff Antec900 looks super cool !!

i wont mind taking a little xtra care about the dust for such a cool case :)

ok...
in i hav another friend whos plannin to buy da same...but not sure yet...
im definitely goin on 15th to lami to chk out prices of all dat i need...
can u make it on 15th?

yea sure my xam is gettin over on 9th

so m plannin to get all those hardware parts in the nxt week

i can surely cm on 15th :)

we can check out 4 5 shops which sell antec cases which i have found ...kinnda find a good deal :)

sure...
jus pm me ur no..an we'll work it out...
evn my exams r on...gettin over on 14th...
would've bin over on 9th itself...but 1 paper got postponed...

FWIW, I bought it for 6.5K (Excluding VAT) in B'lore on 8th Dec 2007.

The Pros:

I like the cooling in this case. Its got 3x120mm Fans, and 1x200mm fan. I haven't even connected the fan @ the back of the case because I reckon the top fan is good enough.

The Cons:

Its collects dust pretty easily since the vents aren't filtered. The Glass window is also a bit difficult to clean. I used Coleen to clean it.

The case was taller than I had expected. To make room for the exhaust on top, I had to remove the drawer above. So make sure that your table can accommodate the case.

CM690 FTW !!! :)

Antec 900 is nice but remember there are no dust filters on the front mesh, in city like bombay it's a dust magnet with huge invitation board :p.

There are dust filters on the front mesh on Antec900. Only side fan really collects dust but u can urself add a mesh there or dont use that fan there. You probably wont be using that fan with big coolers like TRUE on most motherboards as with TRUE installed you cant put the fan there.

I had antec 900 for 2 months or so. And now I have CM690.

From inside both are same size basically. Its just that cable management and HDD position in the CM690 makes it appear bigger and wire management is easier. But HDD dont get any airflow in CM690. They are on avg running 7-8C hotter in CM680.

Hmmm... I've orderd a CM690.. Les see hw it fairs..

Antec's chargin more fer the fans tat comes with the 900..

If only ther was a 900 w/o fans... :p

Funky, Check out d bros of Antec 900: 1200 and 300..

antec nine hundred is a good case. the cooling is good. But there is a shortage of space inside it. cable management is a very big problem and it attracts a lot of dust so you may need to clean it every frequently. You can get it in mumbai from Mr. Deepank - 9870319018. he is from mumbai branch of theitdepot

I have an Antec Sonata III and the dust filer on it does nothing to stop dust. the mesh is just to big to stop any dust. Dust filters is actually a misnomer - they will not stop any dust. ZERO - they are more use as "dirt" filters - hair, pet hair etc. For that matter even the netting suggestions is useless, the mesh is too big - will not stop dust.

The only thing that will actually stop dust are cloth/paper dust filters on every air intake. I am wondering how this could be achieved.

Anyone know where to buy cloth/paper dust filers ?

One of the suggestions for air filters for fans I came across in a forum was ladies nylon stockings - you can use the ones of your favourite colours :eek:hyeah:

I once used a fine stainless steel mesh as an air filter over a computer fan, this worked very well and was easily washable too.
